Trying to reinstall from original DVDs...

...because when I tried to run the already-installed copy on my PC, I was getting insta-crashes.  When I uninstalled and attempted to reinstall, it finally occurred to me the reason: Flash end of life.  Ah well, to GOG I go.

Question on this, by the way.  Did GOG fix the sounds (most notably, Singularity Laser) that wouldn't play in the original patched game due to the patch breaking compatibility with stereo FXs?  The versions I downloaded from GOG appear to be single-channel.
