Apparently it’s just a thing. Google COVID arm.

I see.
From what I gleaned, it shouldn't last longer then 8-10 days?

No it’s weird because it starts 8-10 days after you get the shot.  It’s a delayed reaction.

And my arm did the same after my 2nd injection.

She got Pfizer.  I got Moderna.  All the side effects are worse with Moderna.

I've read that about Moderna vs. Pfizer.
My wife says she's read that the strong reactions (about 14X) to the vaccine come with second exposure, whether the first was a vaccination or an infection.

We were notified for cancellation/standby vaccination opportunities in our home county for the first time on Friday, but they went fast.

Today my neighbor told me that they were able to fill cancelations in the neighboring county downtown on Friday. Apparently they get about 2K doses/day, but only have about 1700 takers on average. So they will vaccinate others rather than let the vaccine expire. My wife was able to get both of us appointments, So we'll use them unless something else comes through sooner.

A Belgian journalist living in NYC got inocculated today. He's in my age category, 50+
I noticed it because you mentioned you haven't had your turn yet, Rusty, and you're already retired.

The States are all handling things differently with the rollout.

Utah just threw the doors wide open to ANYONE to get a vaccine this week...

which is rather concerning in some ways as according to here:

https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/01/28/960901166/how-is-the-covid-19-vaccination-campaign-going-in-your-state

We're only at 20% with one shot, which to me seems to indicate we have a lot of people just choosing to not get vaccinated.  Seen some anti-vaccine crap on facebook this week as well.

Parents got dose 2 of Moderna last week, kicked mom's ass for a couple days, Dad hardly noticed.

Also if I understand the efficiency column correctly, about 20% of the doses are being thrown out as most states seem to be at 80% effeciency.

Yeah, I already noticed there seems to be a 15% cancellation/discarded rate in Rusty's area, before standby people have a chance.

We are scheduled for vaccination tomorrow afternoon. The wife and I are in our 60s with health complications and retired early, but not yet 65.

My mom ( she's 83 and lives in Pennsylvania ) got her second dose of Pfizer this week. This time she had some symptoms similar to what I often get with a flu shot, but she never has before- low fever, body aches.

Got a phone call from my parents today; my dad has been scheduled for his first dose second week of April. He's (still) 80.

Okay. The wife, the hairdresser nieces, and myself all had appointments for  1:30 PM today. Essentially we were approved as adults with health issues ( asthma, lung problems, obesity) Well, one of the nieces also teaches hair dying, so she qualifies as an educator. We arrived a little after 1 PM and completed our paperwork, process, scheduling our 2nd dose and waiting for complications to set in by 1:45 PM.

We got the Pfizer. That's what I was hoping for because I figure it's best suited to civic arena mass processes, freeing the vaccines that require normal refrigeration and/or single doses for rural outreach. Well, my livestock experience has led me to believe in Pfizer's quality control and reliability in their products. They were issuing the Moderna as well.

My left arm has been bothering me with a shoulder injury. I can't be sure of vaccine side effects, but the injection site is tender to the touch. I'm curious to see how long it takes my doctor, or my home county to contact me about vaccination opportunities. I'll keep you advised.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking about baking cookies for my neighbor as a thank you for telling us about the opportunity.

My second shot is Wed, and since Utah swung the doors wide open, the boys have an appointment on Thursday.  They're hoping for the J&J one and done and specifically signed up at a location that is doing that one...but they had to sign for all three take what you get.

Talia is too young for any of them.

Today the injection site is less tender. It's still about 2 inches in diameter. I've been trying to take it easy today( as advised) so no yardwork. Me and Cinderella ( my Skipperke) did our normal mile walk. I was hotter and more tired than usual, so I took a nap afterwards. My wife took a nap this afternoon, too. My nieces worked today and were complaining of fatigue.

We have reached an informational threshold which can only be crossed by harnessing the speed of light directly. The quickest computations require the fasted possible particles moving along the shortest paths. Since the capability now exists to take our information directly from photons traveling molecular paths, the final act of the information revolution will soon be upon us.
