I guess we had 71,787 new cases today, and 841 deaths.
In round numbers- the leaders are FL with 11K, TX with 10K, and CA with 9K. Each of these states currently with about 100 deaths/day.

That would make it about the same percentage of deaths for the whole population as Belgium currently has: about 1 death for every 1070 inhabitants.

These days the numbers are publicised on a weekly average. Hovers between 80-85 new confirmed cases/day, with numbers of deceased and hospitalisations still declining.
Looks like most new cases these weeks were young (teens/tweens) people.
And the (federal) government approved a package deal for the medical sector to increase salaries and personnel.
Care centers are not included (yet) since these are regulated on the State level.

Also, as of today it is compulsory to wear masks in most public indoor places, the main exception is where food/drinks are consumed. Going to give interesting news broadcasts in for instance justice halls and sports events.
My future visits to the local bakery will be masked, same with groceries.

Why does the American population accept the horrendous state of the American healthcare system?

The Corona virus has revealed the inadequacies of American culture and attitudes on healthcare. The Corona virus in the United States of America has been causing more deaths in the last week than the sum of American deaths from September 11, 2001 and more in the last four months than the Vietnam Conflict and Korean Conflict combined twice. These events sparked backlash from the public because of forced drafts in the Vietnam and Korean conflicts, yet the inability of healthcare systems to meet the needs of people in the United States of America does not promote the same backlash despite more people dying. Why do people accept this fact? If Americans had universal access to preventive healthcare, then the United States of America could have mitigated many of the negative aspects of the crisis and obviated some of the political apathy on healthcare transformation.

Political apathy on structural changes in healthcare and other issues might originate partially from the lack of Americans' awareness in the mental worldview of an alternative social structure. I, for example, wrote an open letter to the American government on this issue and discussed solutions for the creation of low cost healthcare systems like the Village Doctors of China after the the implementation of policies for the abolition of private insurance and creation of universal subsidized access to preventive and emergency healthcare for all citizens. The education, recruitment, organization, and mobilization of people remains of the utmost importance to me on these issues. Since the prevalence of American political apathy occurs regularly and professionals predict issues before the current crisises would arise in the healthcare system under a stressful event, Americans should act independently of the current political and social systems for the creation of a better economic and social system under a people's revolution.

We aren't going to "rise up" and take out our government because we have 3rd world healthcare (it seems at times).  We do try to use the system that we set up to make the changes.  Sometimes they don't happen or not like it should be, but it's what we have AND way we want to have to deal with it.

Do we get Idiots in change, like now, because of it?  Yeppers, but we can (and will) make the change in a lawful and peaceful manner!!

Slim hope here as "leaders" in TEH CHURCH have actually spoken up to tell Utahn's to mask up.

https://www.heraldextra.com/news/local/faith/lds-church-asks-members-in-utah-to-wear-masks-to-prevent-covid-19-spread/article_9400d289-929f-5bb1-9c69-149f7069b6ad.html

I use "leaders" in quotations as these guys are fairly far down the pecking order and this won't carry the same weight as if TEH PROPHET were to speak up.  Which, I actually think he's an idiot NOT to at the moment, it's a perfect opportunity for him to confirm a lot of people's faith with a simple statement that clearly god wanted a dr as the prophet at this point in history to tell you all to wear your masks, idiots, but that's a whole other story.

It's a small bit of sense with a govt refusing to do more than suggest masks might be a good idea while they continue to open things more up.

And... experts think the second wave has arrived here.
Weekly average at 115 infections/day now. Last Monday 200+ confirmed cases.
Number of hospitalisations and deceased still stable, but I don't think that will last.
So the 'security council' decided not to soften measures further. Maybe next week stricter measures will be implemented again.

Already less than a month since I had made this prediction, we are closely approaching 1/6th of a Million (166,667) deaths.

Well, for the first time since the end of WWII there's a local curfew in effect (due to the Corona pandemic)
In our northernmost province, Antwerp, (except for valid reasons) nobody's supposed to be outdoors between 23u30-6u. This affects almost 2 million people, and will last for at least the next 4 weeks.

It doesn't apply to the rest of the country.
In my community its also mandatory to wear a mask in all build-up areas, even when cycling, not only indoors and crowded places as in the rest of the country.

There's been a surge in new infections these last couple weeks, with at least half of them in the above mentioned province. We're up to on average 350+ infections/day.
Medical officials fear an infection surge is about to happen in the capital area (Brussels) as well. This will affect me more since I work just south of the capital, and many of my colleagues live in Brussels.
