Additional Secret Projects

Looking for ideas of additional secret projects. Below are several ones from Unity Mod, that I have there already. However, I was thinking of using all available slots.


Their value is pretty much only in victory points, but playtesting these so far, I noticed influence to the game, which is quite positive. AI builds them, turned out, that assigning value of 5 in several areas of "value" makes the trick.

Planetfall Museum
Available from the very start of the game, no tech required. Gives ability to all factions to start a Secret Project no matter of technologies. A museum of planetfall to Chiron, items, photos, etc.


Earth Tribute
Available with Social Psych. Just a monument commemorating society of Earth.


Alien Artifacts Exhibition
Comes with a tech I replaced Progenitor Psych -> Alien Archaeology. The idea of the tech is to find ways of searching for Alien artifacts, techs, etc. This new SP would be an exhibition of what would be collected. Both for public and secret artifacts.


Progenitor Mystery
Same with Alien Archaeology, SP preparing the best hypothesis about Progenitors, who they were, why they are extinct, what was their civ like.


The Visiontrance
Available with Secrets of the Human Brain. Ability to have visions, or something similar, that was possible with uncovering of how human brain functions.


So, looking for more ideas. I am not sure if there was any larger discussion about such ideas.

At present, it is impossible to give SP's actual effects.
The only thing it gives the player is extra victory points because of constructing an SP.

Yitzi was planning on enabling something, some time ago.

Victory points are the only effect, that can be measured in 'game data'. Still, a titbit for players for score. However, there is additional effect in AI playstyle. With such value-levels (5) AI refuses to trade techs. It is beneficial for gameplay, especially when you could get a tech for mere 100 EC (or more later). And now, when there is some additional SP, AI refuses.

With changes in the mod, I already have one SP per each of these two techs. And I was thinking, one SP per tech is ok, but I would avoid more.
On the other hand, we have 89 techs and 64 SP slots, so it may be difficult sometimes to fit one SP per tech if one decides, that some techs should not posses any SP.


I gave Alien Archaeology 2 SPs, also, but Progenitor Psych was a very strange tech. I took Aquafarm to some maritime technology. Maybe there is some another tech like that, I don't remember.

In original rules, Ascent to Transcendence is with no tech prerequisite, but this can be changed to some final technology. So Voice of Planet in the mod, I renamed to Ecology Doctrine, this enables also a facility (Temple of Planet? IIRC). I had that in Centauri empathy, but now decided to move to Ecological Engineering, it fits there to some extent, although Temple of Planet is stretched to be reasoned in engineering.
So now Centauri Empathy can take Planet Dreams SP and be with only one SP.

Holowood would be fitting for Planetary Networks, though it might be a bit early. The Virtual World is moved to Optical Computers, so PlaNets have no SP. I would make it quite an expensive SP, all those 'stars' need a good pay!

To start describe them, Progenitor Mystery is moved to Bioadaptive Resonance. There are good reasons, one SP per tech this way, but more importantly such thing as more extensive knowledge about Progenitors should be later in the tech tree.


Moved Chiron Space Program to the first orbital flight tech, bur added:
Nessus Landing Project. But this should come before Nessus satellites.


Weather Paradigm is moved to Planetary Sciences, level 3 tech. In that place, Centauri Ecology gets Chiron Ecosystem Project.
WP is powerfull SP and getting it somewhat later in the tech tree is probably a good thing.

Actually, the first tech I made is:
Advanced Rocketry, cause I gave already some satellite capabilities. And since Adv. SpaceFlight has The Living Refinery, this would be better:
- Adv. Rocketry - Chiron Space Program
- Orbital Space Flight - Nessus Landing Project
- Adv. Spaceflight - The Living Refinery

I took a glance at the Secret Projects list from the game. Here are some thoughts in the same vein as those:

Inception: A technology that allows the user to insert themselves into a subject's dreams.

The Internet of Things: Integration of computing devices into everyday objects, allowing them to send and receive data.

Multiple Use Labor Element: Robotic servitors.

The Array: A mega-scale device capable of communication with Earth.
