Possible clown coverup. 

Some 90+ Halloween murders (I stopped counting) confirmed.  Several dozen by "masked" or "costumed" people.  No mention of WHAT costume/mask.  Earlier in the month, it didn't much matter what mask, everything was a 'clown' to a lot of news outlets.

Overall, there are a LOT of confirmed beatings and stabbings from both sides of the clown line.  MORE IN UK/EUROPE THAN IN THE STATES. 

The amount of fake news is overwhelming.  With the purge being a no-show, I'm guessing we'll die down swiftly now in the states.  POSSIBLY a spike just after elections, but then done.  Outside the states, I got no clues, they're treating it more as an excuse to be hooligans where here it's more a trendy prank. 



Clowns have just hit Asia this morning as well.  We'll see what form it takes THERE.

That's a rather loaded question. 

How detailed a response do you want?  I've done a non-trivial amount of research into it. 

Short version:  Performance artists started posting pics of themselves as creepy clowns in dark alleys or city corners in the dead of the night.  It went viral.
 
Copy cats sprang up. 

Various movies and TV shows were made in the interim featuring clowns.

Halloween season hits US. 

The Prank:  Unclear which happened first.  Either some folks dressed as clowns, or some kids made it up, but clowns standing in the woods beckoning to kids stories started springing up.  Cops got involved.  A group in some darker portions of the web found it funny and started spreading more fake stories on purpose.

Teenagers got ahold of this and started "Prank" threats on their schools.  The schools shut down.  This caused more kids to call in threats. 

News agencies went crazy. 

Halloween sales start, clown stuff easy to purchase.  General public finds it funny to dress as scary clowns and frighten people.  Cops called.  People not doing anything wrong to dress as clowns.

Scary clown becomes a THING, everyone trying to be BETTER than the last.  Weapons start appearing on the clowns, and the clowns start CHASING people.  Police now start getting upset with the clowns. 

News agencies go crazy. 

Public now split, anti-clown groups form to fight back against clowns.  Clowns still upping the ante.  Staged Youtube clown videos posing as 'news' appear, clowns getting beaten, or attacking people.  Fake news gets pawned off as real.  Terrible reporting makes it into something much larger than it is. 

Teenagers don't understand the videos were staged and the news fake and re-enact for real.  Adults think it's funny, re-enact for real, etc.  Clowns banned in large areas of the country. 

It skips to Europe where things just go off the rails.  Been far more violent in Europe...BUT news over there is reporting anything in a halloween mask as clown related as well.

Sounds like a viral thing that people would do, hard to imagine it not progressing how you said it did since that's humans in a nutshell. My guess is that it's either gonna die off or get so much worse.

A game of hide-and-go-seek quickly turned terrifying for three Pennsylvania children after they were chased through the woods by two armed men dressed as scary clowns.

Dylan Milkowski, 8, of West Mifflin told KDKA that he was outside playing a game with two friends when they spotted two men dressed in clown costumes and carrying weapons.

"They had pipes and they had shotguns," he said. "They were chasing us."

The boy's father, Michael Milkowski, said the kids came screaming and running into the house Saturday around 4:15 p.m. At first Michael didn't believe the kids were being chased by creepy clowns, but when he went outside to investigate he saw two masked suspects running up a nearby hill.

The only confirmed deaths have been the result of robbery attempts in masks, not pranksters. 

LOTS of injuries in europe and Australia on boths sides.  (Clown pranksters getting beat by mobs, some of them had real knifes and defended themselves with them)

Most of the charges around the october incidents were just dropped...few exceptions out there. 

Two Central Lafourche High School students were given community service and placed on unsupervised probation for six months for wearing clown masks while driving around the school, the district attorney said.

Meanwhile, a Lockport man is awaiting trial in another incident involving a clown mask.

State law prohibits people from wearing masks in public places to hide or conceal their identities, except for festivities like Halloween and Mardi Gras. A conviction could mean six months to three years in prison.

Now a harrowing clip of the suspected gunman wearing a terrifying clown mask and pointing a toy gun at the camera has emerged.

That's a purge mask.  No shock given the kid's other interests. 

However...

"The shooter is a student who is dressed in black and who is adept at Satanism.
"He is a fan of Metal, in particular. He is known to be rather lonely."

After a few months off the radar, “creepy clowns” are apparently back — and now, they’re armed with snakes.

Police in Fargo, North Dakota were called on Saturday after two men frightened a group of children. One man was wearing a clown mask, the other was holding a three to four foot long boa constrictor.

According to WDAZ-TV, one child to their parent that a man chased the child with a knife, and asked if the child wanted “to see any dead bodies.” KVLY-TV reports that one of the men also threatened to kill a child.

No charges have been filed, but if the men are found they could face charges of terrorizing — a Class C felony.

“Creepy clown” sightings were commonplace throughout the country last fall in September in October, with sightings confirmed in at least eight states. Clown sightings led to a school district near Cincinnati to close for a day, and one teenaged girl was arrested for asking a man wearing a clown mask to murder her teacher.
