Problem with Spoils of War option.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, or if it is a well known issue. I did a couple of on-site searches and found nothing, so...

I've noticed that while playing with Spoils of War option on, AI will sue for peace after base conquest, I will accept truce or even treaty, then game will award me with Tech as "Spoils", which always seems to cause AI to declare Vendetta again. Is this a known issue with vanilla game, or possibly a glitch introduced by one of the unofficial patches? Is there a fix, or do veteran players simply know not to waste time accepting truce/treaty offers until after conquest process is complete?

I'm using GOG version + Yitzi's and Pracx's patches, BTW.
