You got it better than us, then - freezing rain Wednesday night turned into sleet Thursday night, and very little progress in melting so we can leave for America yet.

-Not that there was a lot of it, mind - the fallen leave were never completely covered - just a really thorough job of freezing several million people who can't cope with winter weather in...

I've only seen freezing rain once.  I have no desire to be out in it again.

Lake effect snow this morning, the car had difficulty starting in the cold as well, cold enough the road salt did nothing.  I was out before most the idiots took to the road it seems, and the plows were driving all around...without their blades down.  wtf?

Checking the maps, that storm put us at 97% of average for the month for the mountains that count to our reservoir.  We definitely need a heck of a lot more to get ahead of the drought cycle.

I'm alive!

Yes that was in doubt.

The building has a skylight now.  This program always puts me up in the best locations...

Not really.  The place has a raised section of roof in the center.  Ice come off that through the lower roof, and onto the floor.  Close enough to scare the hell right out of me.  I have departed before more ice come breaking loose.

At an older location I got to see what happens when one of those chunks falls onto a car.  Really funny as it was a 'no parking' zone so he had to foot the bill for the repairs.  Always wary walking into one of these buildings as a result.

It's a Utah thing, I think.

A ton of infrastructure was created in Utah for WWII, as we served as the supply dump for all branches of the military, midway between the gulf and the coast, far enough in to be relatively safe from bombing.

These buildings are almost all cookie cutter copies of each other, and have been converted to various uses over the years.  The ones still owned by the govt tend to be in the worst shape, but all of them suffer from the icicle problem.

Coming in this morning, there was a 3 ft wide pillar of ice descending from the roof to the pavement.  That's gonna fall at some point.  Don't want to be near when it does.

I'd take a backhoe to it in a controlled manner if I thought it wouldn't bring the roof down with it.

It was supposed to get down to 3 degrees American last night.  Highs in the low 20's.  Don't know the actuals.  Not supposed to be above freezing till the weekend.

The biggest issue I've had is the car not liking it.  I'm fairly comfortable, actually.  Though I was caught for a day last week having to be outside in it all day when I was supposed to be in meetings all day.  Didn't really come dressed for that, and it wasn't fun.

Ya know...this might be the worst meeting I've ever been to...

and a previous one had cops in riot gear outside because they feared we would riot, so that's saying something.

The director was asked to retire and he's having 'fun' in his last meeting.

Love the guy.  Most straightforward and clear all hands/state of the company meeting I've ever seen.  The company is not healthy.

In the borehole pressure mines 100km beneath Planetsurface, at the Mohorovicic Discontinuity where crust gives way to mantle, temperatures often reach levels well in excess of 1000 degrees Celsius. Exploitation of Planet's resources under such brutal conditions has require quantum advances in robotic and teleoperational technology.
