Oh, and the commercial version of Trevor HAS ARRIVED!  Honestly...I expected worse.  Not bad...

I mean, after I posted detailed plans how to make it collapsible for storage (or shipment) last year, it was a matter of time.

I was meaning to make 2 more ruined tombs for phase three with the cracked lids...this is reasonably close to that idea.  I can see people putting lifters and sliders on that lid with ease (and that being marketed in future years)

Turns out that tomb above actually has a reversible lid with the other side rather plain, but with a raised profile that's actually nearly exactly what I had drawn up for my ruined tombs.

Big bob arrived, he's pretty darn sturdy, though I wouldn't trust it for any heavy weather.  Took me an hour to assemble on my own, 10 minutes to tear down with help.  I'm not sure the frame will quite handle a Mother modification, but maybe something closer to Father or cropper.  Might come up with a way for LIGHTER pumpkins for Mother as well.  Maybe even going back to Jack Jackula...

Tiny Tim...

Perhaps his size does denote a new model name...it's just "Bob" has meant clean skeleton for so long...

First wash pass about 80% done.  My ladder wasn't big enough to get the tippity top, but I can disassemble for that as it doesn't need the drip stains to coordinate with the sides like the rest did.  It's going to be REAL close whether this or the skeleton is taller.

Several pro haunts are shuttering for the season.  Several others are trying to stay open.

I'm leaning more and more towards cancelling the party and the full walkthrough and just decorating the front and figuring out how to hand out candy safely on the drive way.

Brooms come to mind... you can hang ribboned candy on them on the twigs. And 'safety lines' drawn on the drive way so each kid in a party doesn't come too close to the other when collecting.
And of course an extra wide-angled lens for your camera in case you're in the habit of photographing interesting costumes. ;)

Well, if I decide to actually hand out individually like that, a pvc pipe slide into their bucket/bag seems to be the go-to this year.  We usually have a 'candy buffet' table though.  Trying to figure if it's possible.

Images from the party.  Temps were cold enough the pumpkin pieces were freezing almost as soon as they were pulled out of the pumpkins (pumpkins kept in the garage to keep from freezing prior)

This is what happens when I actually put a little effort into carving, one of our giant pumpkins.  Not a lot, mind you, just more than my normal bifurcate and call it good.  I've actually designed some of the pumpkin master carving templates in the past.

We've officially cancelled this for the year....:/

Sorry to hear that.
But of course health goes first.

By the way, looking at the back of that first picture, did that neighbour ever clean up the pile of junk at his side of the fence?

Um..before the storm it was still there.  I've been to busy to notice if it got cleaned up as part of the storm cleanup or not...

I guess that answers my question. If after the better part of a year some junkpile is still there, chances are a storm won't change your neighbours mind about it.

It was largely trimmings from his tree and had been there probably 5 years or more.  It's actually on a trailer, but he has a bad back and is simultaneously too proud to let people help and I'm not sure the trailer is/was movable.  they've been cleaning up in general the last year or two, though.  I mean, you can see their deck clearly now...
