That might be quartz with some jasper mixed in. When you rub it with your finger, are there some sections that feel smooth and a little bit oily? If so that's classic silicon dioxide. Quartz/ Agate/ Jasper/ Chalcedony, etc.

The middle of that top picture looks like a classic vein of quartz and something. If its opaque - the darker stuff - its probably jasper.

I haven't done much prospecting in Utah, but I have in Wyoming and Nevada. Both states I have found quartz mixed mixed with agate/ jasper or Jasper/ agate mixes. Utah cant be that much different.

It's definitely quartz, but I'm not enough of a rockhound to know what it's mixed with.  I just have seen enough of your stuff on facebook to know you'd find it interesting. 

I got one half decent smokey quartz crystal I've been meaning to break open the piece.  We did bring home a few pieces, I should get you pics.

Frankly, I'd avoid SLC right about now if I were you.  They are getting a little on the scary side with the virus.  Turn north at Echo and come into Ogden instead.

Without eye balling it, I would say quartz and jasper. Lots of jasper out in the desert. Usually easier to find than agates.

I meant the metro area in general. Not sure exactly where you are but if I wasn't stopping to say high, I would make a beeline in to whatever was the nearest on the outskirts, do what I need to do and GTFO.

I don't love going to Wyoming for the large metro areas. I can get that crap at home.

But ya well aware of the Covid situation in SLC. This would be mid to late July so situation could be different.  Cases are spiking in Uinta County, Wyoming. First stop in Wyoming from Utah on I-80. My son goes to Evanston for occasional resupply, so he and I have already had this discussion. Its easy to get complacent in Kemmerrer, small town, no Covid to speak of. So ya. I hear ya. I bet the reason for the spike in Uinta is because of the bleed over from SLC.

I'm essentially at the I 84/highway 89 interchange in south weber/south ogden. 

Evanston is about an hour from here, and wouldn't be out of the question for me.  I don't know if Coalville would be big enough for what you're needing, I've never stopped there.  Morgan has a decent supermarket, but that's about it.  Otherwise, South Ogden/Riverdale is your best bet.
