BU! dbanv! Rymdolov! Thank you for the most uplifting welcome! Good to see many familiar names, even if slightly rebranded in some cases. (Think I spotted a recently-dated post by Bodissey too, and of course there's t_ras stomping around here as well. Now if someone can claim to have picked up recent traces of Vishniac here as well then I will be forced to conclude that I've fallen through some kind of temporal dimensional gate!)

Of course, what's really wanted around here is a .exe modder capable of making it possible to have scenarios with more than 7 factions...

Wow, that would require a lot of work. Im sure there was a lot of hard coding related to it. Else they would have enabled this option in SMACX.

Joined a while ago, but forgot to introduce myself.  Not a modder, nor an IP/multi-person player.  Just a guy whoi uses SMAC/SMAX as his go-to for casual entertainment.

Not really; other than custom scenarios, it's a bad idea anyway (as changing the number of factions tends to have major effects on game balance.)

Now, modding the exe itself without access to the source code...that's difficult even for easy mods, and would (I suspect) be an absolute nightmare for something that affects the UI.

I was on the board over at weplayciv, which apparently has died.  Eventually I came across a post mentioning everyone is over here.  I'm a biochemist/cell biologist/immunologist/biophysicist.
