Is this the reviled Planet Buster bug?

I'm using the 2.5j patch. Just attack the Spartans with the selected PB.

I think the known PB bug was fixed by 2.5j.  Unfortunately, I'm in the middle of the next patch at a point that prevents me from even starting the game correctly, but once I reach the point where the game should be stable I can test your savegame and fix the bug; the save title suggests it's a crash, and those are generally easy to fix.

Well, I tested it, and it worked fine for me.  It may be that I misremembered and the PB bug has not been fixed as of 2.5j; as soon as I test my current improvement (allowing retool penalty/exemption to be split according to the types of production) and fix the "conquering Yang's bases causes perimeter defenses to pop up out of nowhere" bug, I plan to upload 3.1, which definitely has the PB bug fixed.

Thanks for taking a look. I think I read somewhere around here the 2.5j fixed the known PB bug. I'm going to try it on another comp. If it works there I will try a fresh install/patches with the GoG version and see where that takes me. As of the next patch, awesome to hear its coming soon! Can't thank you enough for all your effort to keep SMAC sexy!

You also might want to see if someone else with the 2.5j patch has the same problem; if they don't (or if it doesn't give the same problem on another computer), you might want to compare text files (particularly alphax.txt) and see if those are the same.

I've put up 3.1; if the bug is still there in 3.1, let me know, because that would mean for certain that it's not the bug I fixed, and then we can work on tracking down what's going on.

It is altogether fitting that we who have sailed the deeps of space now return again to the sea. This is in many ways a water planet, and it can be ruled from the waves. With sea power, rugged terrain can be bypassed and enemy strongholds isolated. Once naval superiority is achieved, Planet is ours for the taking.
