Been a little bit since I've been here.  Went on a wild journey of CIV V and then back to some Skyrim roots.

But after a wipe of my PC, was looking to set up a another playthrough of SMAC.

I remember there was a mod organizer and a SMAC in SMAX mod?  And I assume I would still use PRACX and Yitzi Patch.

Could someone remind me of the steps for this installation or point me in the latest/best direction.

You do need the Official SMAX patch v2.0 uk/us. It's here:

Apply this patch first.


For Yitzi's Patch, you need both of these downloads from here:

Yitzi's Unofficial SMAX patch 3.5 from September 15, 2016:

Please read the PatchReadme.txt that comes with 3.5 before applying it, as it contains important material about how to apply everything.

Yitzi's Unofficial SMAX patch 3.5d from February 20, 2017:

This is a new terranx.exe containing some fixes.


PRACX v1.08 is incorporated in Yitzi's patch. Version 1.09 was announced on July 5, 2017, and version 1.10 on October 18, 2017. It's not here at alphacentauri2, but at https://github.com/DrazharLn/pracx/releases/tag/1.10.
Apply it after you've applied Yitzi 3.5 and Yitzi 3.5d and you should be good to go.


I don't know anything about SMAC in SMAX.

SMAC in SMAX is somewhere around here - Draz worked on it a good deal, and only considered it mostly finished...

I used SMAC in SMAX a year or so back and it worked pretty well. There was also a mod organizer that was simple but effective. I'll search them up and follow the instructions above.

FYI, I could not get SMAC in SMAX I to work. Everything else was fine.

SMAC in SMAX?  Seems unnecessarily purist.  Yes I know that the X material can seem really stupid at first, but one gets used to it in time.  One may even eventually realize that it offers play mechanical benefits, and that from a game design if not characterization standpoint, the new factions aren't bad.
