Yeh, I was tethering when I moved in here for a while, and being short of cash I have replaced it with a rather slowish broadband, but that's the Aberdonian in me showing. I actually joined this forum intending to try PBEM, as I've never played MP SMACX before. Now I'm worrying at this recording problem like a dog with a bone, or live cat as it happens. Still haven't even found out how to PBEM yet. Then again I didn't know anything about recording games a week ago, so I should be happy here in my hermit's cave.
PS I bet the cool chick's a rather pleasant distraction, my only distraction is a pal I'm learning Spanish with, which ain't so cool. Enjoy life's pleasant distractions when they occur, after all we're a long time dead.

Edit: Oops for got to mention https://github.com/rdp/virtual-audio-capture-grabber-device/downloads in the VLC instructions. Added just now.

No longer mere earthbeings and planetbeings are we, but bright children of the stars! And together we shall dance in and out of ten billion years, celebrating the gift of consciousness until the stars themselves grow cold and weary, and our thoughts turn again to the beginning.     ;deidre;

Just be careful with MP for a game like AC. All of it is PBEM. These games go literally for months and months. Some, years. I joined in a while back then realized after a few months I lacked the patience for it and ended up having to take a sabbatical from online stuff due to outside circumstances.

Needless to say, my screen name is probably mentioned along with cuss words over in the MP section for my transgressions. Then again, I get what I deserve for knowingly getting in games such as this that take forever. I had before then been saying that about this genre of games for some time and went against my judgment. These games are just not good for MP usually. They take too long and when folks drop, which they will, it crashes. You really have to have loads of disposable time.

I still may do some AoW3 MP as it is all on a single server and seems painless enough. But, my tether blocks P2P which is what that server uses. I also have bandwidth caps and would need to redownload the 1.4 patch from GOG. The new DLC with Halflings would be nice, too.

Free to Play World of Warcraft level 20 twinks  sounds kind of cool. But that eats it up as well. Also, it is no fun trying to own noobs with 400 to 700 ms latency.

So, MP is off the table for now at least for the games that MP interests me in.

That said, A LOT of folks seem to like MP vids and there are not a lot of them compared to SP games.

With most forum software, that wouldn't work and you'd have to get me to do it for you.  -So you're not the only one who didn't know...

Thanks for the heads up, I'll restrict myself to one.
MP was what I wanted to record to when I work it out it should be good. Sounds like the files might need a dedicated editor with good connection speed.
OH any suggestions for a good AAR to read that shows expert play.
AND a thought is it possible (via mod perhaps) record a whole map game (sorry that's just a crazy idea), but how big are the saves later on in the game. Does the PBEM game record the moves or just the start and end positions. If it records the actual players moves then a mod could feed the moves into the game and a whole game could be recorded by stringing the files together, and playing them back serially. Or indeed watched by a game owner in an AAR. No heavy up and downloads etc. Does the PBEM system record the moves. (Damn, in a way I hope not as I feel another project coming on).

As an aside the you seen the German film Transfer from 2010. Interesting!

Thank you. Your a mine of information, somewhere betwixt and between a collier and a gentleman scholar :D (My English teacher would have beaten me for such poor sentence structure), but its 6:21 a.m. here, so I'm of to bed!!!!!

Sorry for double posting, but this is not so much a reply as a general enquiry. Is there not a sort of PBEM GM who keeps everyone's post/turns, or moderates in some way. And could such a person not open up a recalcitrant players position by giving the password/id to another person, or at least activate the AI to take over an abandoned faction. OR at the very least turn everything on to auto? And it's now 06:37, my sentence structure is becoming appalling, and I'm defiantly going to bed.
Bienas noches

OK, a CMN. I'll continue this question in an MP Post.

You ivory tower intellectuals must not lose touch with the world of industrial growth and hard currency. It is all very well and good to pursue these high-minded scientific theories, but research grants are expensive. You must justify your existence by providing not only knowledge but concrete and profitable applications as well.
