Anyone know if this is an option?

I'm playing as Gaians who have conquered the nice big east continent, and my good friend Zakky had a lot of issues with bad neighbor Lal. Needless to say, I squished Lal, and now I own a sizable piece of real estate on the central continent.

It's down to me, Zak, and Santiago who is off getting invaded by native mindworms on the western continent. Is there any way for me to peacefully join with Zak so I can have all of his bases? I really don't want to kill him, he's been awesome to me this game, and I've been awesome to him (Lal was about to kill him).

Would I need to kill Santiago first? I've already won with Supreme Leader, and I'm also gonna grab Transcendence (and hopefully Conquer as well).

You can always ask them to give you their bases, and they often will because the AI is dumb, but you won't be able to take over them 100% with that method, and you'd need to do it one base at a time.

The other option is a Pact of Brotherhood, which will let you freely travel through Zak's territory and allows a co-operative victory. If you're really buddies with him that's the way you want to go.

If you have a pact with Zak when you beat Santiago that might quality as a Co-Op Conquest victory, but I'm not really sure if the game will even recognize that if you've already won in another way. If your goal is to snag all of the victory types, then at this point you probably need to go Conquest first, then Transcendance and Economic.

Zak repealed his Pact of Brotherhood for no apparent reason. I went to Power SE for a few turns so I'd stop getting Drone Riots every minute, then back to Knowledge. He's Obstinate with me now. Butthole.

Ah well, better kill him. No use to me now. But thanks anyways!

Unless you are using Scient's patch or later efforts. Those patches will not allow you to trade bases in some bone head move.
