Themes/Skins

It's hard to know what to suggest. I don't know this community well enough yet to know what's been tried and not worked (or not liked), or what is even possible. 

One thing I did notice at the site I was exploring is that there are some really cool forum skins that people have made. Are there any others available here besides the default?

There are not - or rather, the two other options looked identical when I tried them a long time ago. IIRC.  I heard that in vB4, the themes interface was so frustrating it was prone to turning good men into sociopaths, and I expect no better from SMF.  More themes would be an awesome option, wouldn't it? 

It's a Shop item?  I would SO only charge 10-25 EC for a theme change.

I'm not sure if it's a shop item. But people could pay or trade for it in some way, couldn't they?

Could you link me to some specific themes?  Packaged to download and install - and ease me into the learning curve...

What kinds do you like? Any particular color themes? Light, dark, medium? There are a lot to choose from, and my choices might not match yours (I won't waste your time with the LCARS theme - this isn't a Star Trek forum).

Also keep in mind that although I've done Invision skinning, I'm not sure how SMF works.

I want a selection, including LCARS - it's not for me; I like the light blues just fine.  I do want to cater to member happiness, and this is a way to.

There are a lot more to look at; the above are what I culled from the Fantasy & Futuristic category. I tried to get a good mix of clean & elegant, some fantasy RPG, a couple of Star Trek ones (love the Enterprise theme), some future-tech ones, a couple of "cheerful colors" ones, and since most of the people here are guys, I tried to steer clear of pink.

Now I'm off to look at some other categories.

A  girly one would be fine - I assume I'll be able to put up the standard pull-down theme selection menu somewhere on the page, and why not?  We want ladies to be comfortable here.

Well, I don't know how many other women there are here, or what they like. My own favorites of the above selection are Astronomy, Enterprise, RPG Gamer, and Serene Forest. I love earth colors and muted tones. Elegant, clean black/silver/grey ones are nice, too.

Okay, the forum claims to have installed the Enterprise theme directly from the .zip (? didn't think that would work ?) and I have stripped this DL of all powers for testing purposes - let's see if I can find where the theme control is...

Valka, you gotta try this one - go to your profile>Look and Layout(left sidebar)>change theme is at the end of the first line.

Now to test something else before my "The Man" account signs off...
