Stephen Hawking Fears SKYNET

Not exactly, just that Artificial Intelligence will evolve faster than we can, then it will destroy us.
He said nothing about it flying, building Terminators, or time machines.

I normally talk about SKYNET here jokingly, but if somebody as smart and tech dependent as Hawking is worried, should I be too?

Outside his field, his opinion is not worth much more than mine - and I doubt we'll screw up badly enough to let something like that happen.

The most common elements in the universe. Thank you.
I'm guessing that humans being human will take something too far before they've thought it through, and learn the hard way.

Hi-tech military stuff has potential to be dangerous, by the nature of the thing - but what general is saying "I want less control of this asset"?

I believe Planet will talk to us if we are willing to listen. These fungal stalks behave as multistate relays: taken together, the neural net connectivity must be staggering. Can a planet be said to have achieved sentience?
