Marvel has been going 'better' in the theaters than DC lately, however Age of Ultron drug on with the ever growing cast(and battles between the studio and director), and Civil War is expanding that even further. It's REALLY HARD to make a good movie with so many characters and have them all develop plus try to set up the coming things as well. Are they biting off more than they can chew?

Batman dominates the box office. Superman has been hit and miss lately. Name wise, this film probably has an advantage over Marvel's B listers assemble. Superman though should never have been even attempted to make 'dark' and 'serious'. Then we're trying to throw more into the mix in this film to ride the Avengers coat tails and get Justice League out ASAP. Too fast with too little setup?

Both have potential to be great or crappy.

I'm giving a slight edge to Marvel just given their fairly decent track record of not totally screwing up ideas and having more control.

2nd and 3rd Nolan Batman dominated the box office, Burton and Schumacher Batmans not so much. Another recast/reboot will put off some people. So I think DC has the odds stacked against them as they have to establish Batman again and stuff Superman and who all else in there too.

On the other side, I don't know a lot about Civil War but it seems less Captain America and more "Avengers: The Superhero Potluck". But it does have the same directors, screenwriters, and producer as the 2nd Captain America movie, so there's that.

I expect I'll wait to see reaction to both on whether to watch them in theaters, though there's a better chance I'll watch Civil War.

Obviously I'm still waiting for Incredibles II.

I think the Marvel movies will most likely be better, but I watch very few movies in a year these days. I probably won't see either one.

Writer/Director Brad Bird ( also the voice of fashion designer Edna Mode ) said back in 2004 or 2005 he would do a sequel if he had an equally good script. He had a few left-over scene ideas, but no story to tell.

It's been announced and postponed again and again. It might be next year, or it might be June of 2019.

Brad Bird is working on it now. He has a concept and he will soon be available full time for the project, once he finishes promoting his most recent picture. He has also signed the composer from Incredibles. It will be a 3-D movie. There is also talk of a re-release of The Incredibles in 3-D.

So, I think it will be worthy, but I won't hold my breath while I wait.

I don't know where you take them after that, to be honest.

I mean, a script with the Incredibles IN it/shameless cash in would be easy enough. And, with some of the crap Pixar is pushing out lately, I'm inclined to think they're heading more down that road.

I don't know how much is true, other than what Brad Bird himself says, which is basically about enjoying himself re-visiting this world, and I view that as positive. He could have done the quick cash sequel any time he wanted. He is about 3/4ths done with the script, and says it's still about family.

There are rumors that it's about Dash and Jack-Jack, years later. Jack-Jack has gone to the Dark Side. Frozone is supposed to be involved, so it would make sense to fight fire with ice. The Parents supposedly have little or nothing to do with the story. Well, they could easily be written out of the story. Retired on disability and homebound for bad backs or stretched ligaments or something.
