Next effort/game for community activity
« on: September 16, 2015, 11:51:29 PM »
While we slowly continue to conclusion of the first community game, I think, that we may suspend any hopes for a democracy game in the near future.

However, I have an idea for something else, between demogame, succesion game and singleplayer with AAR.
That would be an interactive SP game. That would possibly give the closest experience to what a demogame would be.
We would start as soon as our community game completes, which I think may be some weeks away. At least, I am going to give it some propulsion.

that would drain some time of mine, which I have to plan recently carefully, but as I write code, I cannot do it non-stop for the whole day... Some brakes are needed.

Just marking the idea here. Possibly such game would draw attention of even casual posters, since they could affect faction in play, participate in votings, etc.
We would have "heated" discussion probably too. Yet, I think, they may be of much smaller intensity than those in MP demogames.
Personaly, I like this kind of involvement, as it collides little with RL.

You should probably shamelessly copy this thread to Theory of Everything, Command Nexus and Rec Commons to be sure everyone sees it.

Actually, I was thinking of keeping it not exposed to whole public for the time being.
Some discussion in the council here would be ok.
As for the game start, I will start it and then everyone can jump in, or just observe.

The succession game pretty much lost interest. The game is in stage of time-consuming slow advance, and probably can be won by PK faction. I doubt, Gaians can bring down Lal now.
So I think starting this interactive SP is good now.
Summer is over, evenings are longer.

Just got an idea which factions to use, and we will have interesting "experiment," with mix of original factions and Sigma's set. For some time, I thought if starting with custom factions would be good to do, but we need something fresh, I think. Only people wanting to load game saves, will have to get Sigma's set files.

Not much interest in it also, maybe I should promote it to the first page.
However, I have impression, that there are other games around this time, plus maybe a lot of smac'ers try newest Beyond Earth expansion.
Maybe more appropriate way is to hold the game, for some time. These custom factions by Sigma have something in them, that (especially these I included) seem very interesting. So not really intending to resign from this game.

If I determine the enemy's disposition of forces while I have no perceptible form, I can concentrate my forces while the enemy is fragmented. The pinnacle of military deployment approaches the formless: if it is formless, then even the deepest spy cannot discern it nor the wise make plans against it.
