Altera Centauri

We definitely want to get on the bus and host Altera Centauri here, but sisko and I have so many things in the works building ac2 that this hasn't gotten a lot of attention yet.  We figure that being not on  vB software, the copypaste script Petek's colleague came up with is probably no use to port Darsnan's thread from WPC.  It's an awful lot of work to do it manually - anyone have any ideas?

Should we continue the thing with slowly putting up a scenario-a-day or so from the collection to Downloads?  I think so, but should we give them their own folder again?  Probably.

definitely their on folder. the project is called Altera Centauri and should remain that way.

I have all the .zips saved I'd downloaded to post to Downloads already, about 20 of the 80 or so in the collection.  But of course I don't have the copy/blurbs/instructions that go with them...

Anyways, what I wanted to do first was to get the Mods section completed for Altera Centauri first (such as SMAniaC, Aldebaraan, etc.). I can then port that project over here, and then I can start work on porting over the scenarios for Altera Centauri. Don't know the timeframe - probably take me a few months, but if thats acceptable let me know and I can start work on that.

That sounds great!  We have some stuff in our Downloads section already, for what that's worth.

This probably needs its own folder - when you throw in the mods project and other collections we've discussed, there's nowhere it really all fits as a subforum.  Shall I get on that?

I was sorta thinking that if you'd make an OP and a placeholder post for an index, I could start copying over one post a day, extending the strategy I used for the Downloads section elsewhere...

I probably won't even start for a couple weeks yet - got stuff to do OOT. I'm gonna contact people like Maniac and Kilkakon so I can officially get their permission to include their mods, then I'll compile. From there I'll migrate it over here. Sound good?

Actually, I got Maniac's permission for here just yesterday, and can't imagine Kil being a problem.  Good luck with chuft.

chuft replied that scient is working on a new patch, and chuft plans on updating his mod against the new patch. As such I think it makes sense to wait till we get chuft's updated mod for inclusion.

Also, has anyone noted any other mods out there besides the ones I've listed so far?

Hi All,

It was pointed out to me the other day that it sort of came across as rude that I had started this Mod Repository project, then abandoned it and never gave an explanation why, and I have to agree that it does come across as rude, and I apologize for that.
Essentially right now RL is very hectic for me, and I just don’t have the bandwidth to try and keep track of all the odds and ends of this project (such as tracking down the various mods, who has given their consent to use their mods in this project, who’s got what kind of questions that I need to follow up on, who wanted to wait till an updated scient patch came out, etc.). I think maybe about ten months from now (give or take) I may be able to jump back on this prjoect, however no promises as it stands right now. FYI as to where things stand in regards to this project.
