Mystery Skeleton Found In Barn

A shell of what it once was, the dilapidated barn has an eerie feel. Its rib caged walls concealing another set of brittle bones within.

"I never expected to find bones in a barn like that," laughed Gwyn Priddy.

They unknowingly came with the property that Ms. Priddy bought last month, and were only discovered when her nephew went exploring and came back hollering.

"And what I saw at first was just a foot," she said.

A foot bone connected to an ankle bone, connected to a full blown mystery.

"I knew the first thing to do was to call the police and have them take care of this," she said.

"It's definitely one of the weirder ones I've had," said Deputy Rebecca Hendrix of the LeFlore County Sheriff's Office.

Making it even weirder, the skeleton was in what was left a casket.

"It was in a wooden casket, had the old cast iron handles on it, I've dated it back to the early 1900's late 1800's on the casket itself," she said.

"And the bones were kind of turning greenish color," said Priddy.

"Where did it come from?," asked Hendrix.

"I just forgot about them," said Pete Butler, who used to own the property, and who thought the skeleton was fake when he found it in an old building he bought in Poteau, which was once home to the Oddfellows Lodge.

"Secret society in the 1900's," said Hendrix.

"They used these bones to, in their program that they put on, and just part of the program," he said.

New pledges were supposedly blindfolded, and at some point during initiation...

"When the blindfold was taken off they were face to face with a skeleton, and it's to remind them that mortality, death is inevitable," said Hendrix.

But just as you think this story is taking one step forward towards solving the mystery...

"We found two caskets with two bodies in them," said Butler.

That second skeleton however was is nowhere to be found, because...

"Someone, and I forgot who it was, wanted to take that other one and use it as a Halloween prank, and they never brought it back," said Butler.

"I'm trying to track down the second skeleton and go from there," said Hendrix.

The case of the mystery skeleton(s) - one found, one missing, both unknown, and so far, not a single visit from a ghost.

"No, not yet," smiled Priddy.

Haunted, you say?
Bet ya the other skeleton found its way to some ramshackle Scottish castle, towering on top of a hill in the Highlands.

I suppose it's nice that there's a book with it - I don't keep up with raising-kids-toy-trends, but it certainly rhymes with one already out there...

She's often quite challenging in that she goes for the beautiful creepy stuff.  Beauty is outside my wheelhouse.

You start with beauty - just don't conceal it.  You've got a lot of notice; you can do this.

Maybe google Poison Ivy, the Batman villainess?  Some green makeup and a leaf danceskin ought to do it.

Wish I had pics of the last time I tried to sculpt leaves/flowers...

There's a reason it's been 20 years since the last attempt.

Do you sew?  Does HeT?  Leaf shapes are not that hard to cut out - then just stich to a green leotard.

She wants a leaf crown, specifically.  Almost demands I go get some cold porcelain...ages since I worked with that.

Begin with a function of arbitrary complexity. Feed it values 'sense data'. Then, take your result, square it, and feed it back into your original function, adding a new set of sense data. Continue to feed your results back into the original function ad infinitum. What do you have? The fundamental principle of human consciousness.
