Fun facts.

Trevor's white paint is rated for swimming pools.  To last 15 years in a 30 ft deep swimming pool to be precise. 

And the sanding pain was much mitigated by my dremel this year.  I got abrasive sponge wheels for the dremel for all those curves, and used the power sander on the flats.  Worked like a charm. 

edit:  Since BU brought up musical selection while working, a little known fact is all my projects have a theme song.  Trevor 2.0 is this little ditty.

Hey, Fred was the first big project of the yard, so in a lot of ways, he IS the leader.

NORMALLY I would use a mismatched blackish paint.  I had a gallon that the pain dab on the lid sure looked black...

inside the can was VERY blue. 
So, I actually went and bought a can.  Staring at the blacks and grays, I chose "Day's End" as I felt the name fitting.

But, I don't know anyone that really paints the way I do.  I mean I've seen somewhat similar techniques but never in the capacity that I do.   Anyhow, I mixed the black 1:1 with water, slather it all over (making sure I'm not in a sunny location this time), and then go back over it with a wet to damp cloth to wipe off the paint from the high places.  Of course the base coat is somewhat stained by then.  I've even blasted  a project with a hose before to wash more off.  Anyhow the valleys get the full color, and you get a LOT of variation that looks quite natural in between.

One of the things you can do, with a Wash (for those of you whom don't know), can be used it like a stain (on wood), in the proportions that UnO was using, and either a damp or dry whip off afterwards.  Nice thing with this, is that you can make the color(s) anything that you want, as paint colors (compared to stains - excepting the newer, more expensive ones) come in a very wide variety.
