Random crap with Uno.

There's a meeting about this on Monday.  I suspect I'll be told not to embarrass the engineers in front of the customer rather than the engineers told to listen to me. 

My position is complicated at best.  And the contracts are muddy as hell. 

In my company I'm 'just a (title)' to a lot of the engineers (mostly that formerly worked for a particular company, I think that's just the culture they come from). 

To the customer, I actually have a lot of weight due to the upgraded title a year ago.  However, that was at the bequest of our former ringmaster, and the present one doesn't really utilize me in that role much, because he's from the particular company above. 

So, this scenario was one where I 'outranked' the engineer in the customer's eyes, but certainly not in my present leadership/company's eyes. 

I was there specifically because of my former system experience, representing the former system, but the engineer clearly expected me to just nod and go along with their plans for the current system.

Ah, Cinco de Mayo. 

It's become a time for me to remember. 

It was this day in 2014 I'd given up.  I had emptied the Halloween budget to towards more practical things, like groceries, and put on a brave face for the kids, 'celebrating' cinco de mayo for the first time at some free taco promo. 

Prospects weren't looking good at the time, and I had legitimately started planning on building things specifically to sell in the hopes I'd be able to at least buy treats for Halloween that year. 

It was honestly perhaps the second most depressed day of that whole experience. 

It's hitting me a little hard this year, as there's some things that are cause for concern with the contract coming up in about 18 months.

Going through my 4th audit in the last 3 months. 

This is the second from the same organization. 

I understand why and the need, but am getting really annoyed with people crawling all through my stuff.

You're getting audits because you mention them? On this forum?
Do colleagues with a similar security-sensitive status/job have audits as well?
If not, 'discrimination' is a word that pops up in my mind.

I'm a solid day's work from being able to finish Trevor's clay and move on to sanding/painting.  But, waiting on another shipment.  Probably next weekend.

Cloth finished.  Protective coat down around the edges of the foam. 



I'll do a cheese cloth/dryloc coat across this entire bottom to protect the thing and mace sure none of those corner pieces get caught on anything, then I have enough clay to do any further details I deem needed, and it's on to sanding and painting.  I might get to some of it during the week, but the next two weekends are busy.  Probably the 4th-ish to finish up the lid.  We have a plan for the base finally as well.  Much more simple than the last.
