The Progenitor factions engage in no commerce with each other or with humans. Instead, they gain energy from the Energy Grid. This is a harmonic field set up by the power feeds of various technological devices; it manifests itself as +1 energy for every two facilities built, and +2.5 energy (rounded down) for each Secret Project completed.

Nerve Stapling causes widespread disaffection among Progenitor populace, resulting in the shutdown of the Grid for a limited time and a loss of income from that base.
