Community community faction pack?
« on: September 16, 2013, 02:10:47 AM »
Hey all,

I just had the thought that we once bounced around the idea of doing a community faction pack, but never actually did anything with it. I.e., a faction pack centred around us.

Did anybody actually think that was a cool idea? :O Who would be in it?

I propogated a notion of this a while back, so I am in support of it. The issue is who would it be focused around, what groups/individuals, etc.

I think to be fair to everyone, we should focus it on the different sub forums of this forum. Like have a faction focused on the Command Center, a faction focused on Theory, faction focused on Modding, Planet Tales/AAR etc.

Focusing it on subboards would tend to lend itself to subsets of individuals as well. :O E.g. I really don't venture outside of Modding often. Hard to say really!

Could always see who's interested, and if there's more than 7, make 2 sets, or something. :)

Of course, it'd have subsets of personalities, but in that way we also include multiple people. As for myself I am not sure where I would go, I have impact in AAR threads and in modding both for the most part, and I don't have much a presence in Command center. More thought is needed on this as well because we don't want to brand people into groups against their will, especially if they ascribe to many things.

Mhm... this definitely needs communal consensus if we are making community based factions, so we must weigh in all the opinions and formulate.

many community have brought out the most varied resources for the most varied games.
another strong comunity (mainly european) i've can see it's that about blitzkrieg, game which have his 13 years about.
as here we talk about epic game which have a durable and power (you modders) fans comunity.
i've always take a lot resources and i share what i can do in my little.
i don't understand exactly what you wanna do, if create togheter a set of faction or chose one or two by everyone join this project, maybe the second!!??
if you wanna start i remind you a link where i go to upload my last ''unfinaly'' work of 7 warlike factions.

The basic concept of a Community themed set of factions Ariete, would be factions based on/surrounding particular groups or individuals in our forum.

For example, if a faction were to be made based on you, it would have your personality and you as a leader, and the social policies/bonuses and drawbacks of the faction would be based on your personality, skillsets on forum, etc.

It's basically as if we made ourselves faction leaders and formed our own factions, and these factions can be comical/funny in nature. They can be jokes aimed at ourselves if that is what we want, or semi-serious representations of our ideals and opinions, or both.

personally, i create custom facions to play with leaders who more than rapresenting what i'm, rapresent a ''personal comfort enviroment of playing'', the factions that i create are what i see better in the game, they can don't reflect me, but just reflecting my playfull-ludic vision.
i offer my modest work to Kilkakon so to arrange togheter if he want, if he want take just some ispiration or elements he can do it. i'm thinking in these days to make BAY COMPANY fac more corsair and less merchant, maiby someone see more ideas.
by what i understand Kilkakon would take one or two facs from each who join this idea of mappack, or no one if he doesn't like, and it seems the faster way.
another way is to open a discussion for each fac it would be realized, but i haven't seen, at least about my project, a particular enthusiasm to get own hands on other personal ideas. however i understand your bureaucratic attitude for the official use of term Comunity inside this project, which as you rightly point out should represent everybody. to achieve this you should do, as you report, subdivide in contest rules about the guidelines to follow for the creation of the predetermined set faction, over gather a jury that chooses a combination among different participants ideas, but also plays here the personal vision, those of the judges.
i think the basic idea of kilkakon would be more on spontaneity of the individuals, for that reason i suggest jokingly Kilkakon to named as him.

I admit I am not quite sure what you were trying to say Ariete. Sorry. :(

JarlWolf has got the concept of what I had in mind. Each person who was interested would get a faction made based off them/their personality/etc. :) This thread is mainly to see if anybody is interested in that sort of thing.

I'd be fine with being the subject of a custom faction, though I feel that I have represented myself and my ideals quite a bit with Vazheli Vatzev and the Crimson Comrades...

If we are going the individual route, I'd definitely nominate you Kilkakon, Yitzi, EarthMichael, BUncle, possibly Unorthodox, Green1 and as for the 7th... up to debate. That's my opinion at least.

While nothing is stopping the creation of more then 7 community themed factions, a person can only use 7 at a time. And plus, that's 7 factions somebody needs to work on, and that's a lot of work in itself. I haven't even finished my own faction pack yet, still got two more to do xD
