AAR6: Preplanning {late September/ early October}
« on: August 29, 2013, 05:24:32 AM »
Do not worry, more posts for AAR5 will be forthcoming. But halfway through, I always like to look forward to the next

For AAR 6, with a bit of urging, I have decided to break new ground.

I will be teaming up with Jarlwolf for a cooperative game AAR. The format has not been decided. However, I do know that our OP buddies Exterminatus, Antimind, and the Annihilators will be making an appearance.

Jarlwolf and I, however, do not wish for all the Aliens to have the OPness. Jarlwolf believes it is high time for a scary human faction as an opponent as well. Some of the early talk in PMs are pretty intimidating stuff. Nothing really concrete to reveal yet, though.

I also not really sure which faction I will play. Although I believe you will get to see the comrades guided by human hands yet again by Jarlwolf.

Maybe I should whip out a custom faction as well?

Anyways, this may take a bit. Also... suggestions or any issues from the old hands would be helpful since I do not think I have ever seen custom factions in MP.

Also, if you wish to have a custom faction designed or want to take one of mine, go for it. Just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I'm notified of new topics in Modding forum, but not elsewhere. 4 AARs have appeared without me knowing about it in the General forum. XD Oops. Well I've got some evening reading to do :D

I'd be very pleased if you took interest in Tomorrow. I'd finish it off before you played, of course :)

But pick what you like :D

Oh yeah--modded SMAX has no problems with multiplayer, trust me :P

Cannot tell if sarcastic or genuine. Given its you Kilkakon I think it's the latter but you never know.

And by giving consideration for "Tomorrow" do you mean you are making an AAR or use your faction? If we were to use said faction we'd probably have to tweak to make it more monstrous.

(Though do note... we's got some ideas. And they are terrifying both gameplay wise and conceptually.)

Genuine.

I meant as use as a faction. It is defensively impressive, and played well, probably slightly better than the stock factions, although if you are buffing Comrades then I can happily buff them too--they are my baby. XD

But sure if you have your own ideas go for it! Was just a thought. :)

I don't think we'll be buffing any factions, just we'll be playing against monsters. And by monsters it has to be a faction that is not only scary to fight against due to stats ( Annihilators, Exterminatus and Antimind are all horrendous, terrible awe inspiring enemies to behold) but also conceptually terrifying. I won't reveal the fourth faction in mind but I will say they are VERY twisted and are the stuff of nightmares in their idea and concept. Something that would make someone have trouble sleeping at night sort of thing. So unless Tomorrow got seriously tweaked into this monstrous faction.. not sure they'd fit the bill. Its up t Green1 as well though so we'll see. (Mind I am all for featuring other folks factions, its just for this one thar be monsters we are facing.)

Oh I was suggesting them as the faction that Green1 was going to play :)

Haha, I'm sure they're worse than Tomorrow, Fallen, Path and Betrayed combined. XD

Oh: Well yeah Tomorrow would be a excellent choice for playing. Solid faction overall in that regard.
(misinterpreted you, sorry. I just wrote the marathon equivalent of AAR posts, I feel like I am going to die.)

I'd like to PM and brainstorm idea's for this faction with you given your status as a fellow creator... but I'll have to speak with Green first and get his stance on it. This is our collective baby and I don't want to take all the parenting rights.

If I die, ten more will take my place. Sure, they'll be illiterate clones but it might work.

I have some thoughts on the human faction. I may suggest a modified version of my Genome Syndicate. Here are their stats:

Biogenetics
Morale +2
Growth -2
1 Talent per 4 citizens
Free Recycling Tanks
Free Biology Lab

So far in all of the tests that I've run, they have far an away been the strongest faction in my pack. In my recent test where I played as them, I landed next to the Monsoon Jungle and had the game beat basically within 30 turns. Their penchant for catching Golden Ages counteracts their growth penalty, so half the time they basically have no weaknesses. I'm probably going to have to nerf them for my faction set, but for the purposes of this game you could use a faction like this with even stronger stats (+3 Morale, 1 Talent per 3 citizens, etc) to create a bigger challenge.

Definitely possible... though if we are going to us it they'll need a bit of tweaking ideologically perhaps too. Unless Green1 decides to play as them of course.

Our enemies have to be scary both in gameplay and concept. So with the Genarch's, we just have to make them a little more crazy and then they could fit the bill...

Green1, let me know if you want me to share our idea's with the public/certain individuals.

Be my guest. I am all about cool stuff going public :D
