That's pretty cool... How much does it cost normally? I wouldn't mind toying with something like that.

There is a similar program you can get for free called DAZ Studio http://www.daz3d.com/products
Daz Studio is made by a company who originally just created figures, clothing, props, and sets for Poser.  Their program is available for free because they figure that if you like the program, you're going to spend a lot of money at their site buying things to go with the program... They're usually quite right about this...

A full version of the latest edition of Poser (Poser 10) is available for purchase here: http://poser.smithmicro.com/buy.html
It costs $299.99 -- However you can get it for less at other places like Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Smith-Micro-Software-Inc-Poser/dp/B00CSJFWUY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378565062&sr=8-1&keywords=poser
You can get older versions of the program (that still work perfectly fine.  I'm running Poser 6 on one of my computers) there for around $74 http://www.amazon.com/Smith-Micro-Software-Inc-PSR9HDVD/dp/B005LXIJ7M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1378565062&sr=8-3&keywords=poser (for Poser 9 -- which is what I'm using in the pictures I've posted here) or an even older version for $24 http://www.amazon.com/Smith-Micro-Software-Inc-PSR8HBX2/dp/B002KMQ8WU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1378565062&sr=8-4&keywords=poser

Smith Micro also has frequent sales. I bought my copy of Poser 9 on sale for $50 from Smith Micro right before Poser 10 was due to come out.

[Since a few seconds after I hit the "post" button, BU will storm into the room where I am to demand an answer to the question, "Why did I pay for a new version of Poser when I could have downloaded DAZ Studio for free?" let me go ahead and answer. I've been using Poser since 2003.  I'm used to the way the program is set up.  DAZ Studio makes the same kind of pictures, but is set up differently.  Since I've been working with the Poser-style set up for so long, DS is uncomfortable for me to use.  It's the some sort of reason that BU keeps on using GIMP even when I offer to give him copies of Photoshop for free.]

Hrm... I might definitely look into both then... I wish I had a means to copy real life materials artwork to the internet though, I've got some nice paintings/sketches I've made over the years.

I lack digital camera, and while I am sitting comfortably with money right now I don't have loads of it to spend. And I am not spending money on camera that takes bad photo's like some Lomo rip off nonsense... So I'll just ask my daughter to take photos of it sooner or later.

We have artists here, and would very much like to see your work when that happens...

Mhm... I've done mainly paintings of stuff I liked: I've made a painting of Marv from Sin City, and I've also made a painting of Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The latter is done in a more goofy abstract style, but I've been told it wasn't half bad.

I've also done loads of "Combat Art" as it's called but most of it was confiscated/ I sold or gave to former colleagues/friends. Might still have a few pieces though... I remember I engraved an old spent artillery shell, its probably somewhere in a musty box in my home... if not I probably sold it.

Uno is always interested in sculpture, being a sculptor himself, as am I - you could post carved stuff in his thread, or here, or start a new thread for showcasing all your work...

Given that I didn't want to storm into any rooms at any point, I should say that I assumed that the commercial product was better and that I don't approve of piracy - and I'd be fine if there was a way to get my old edition of Photoshop5 running on W7...  But it's correct that I AM used to GIMP now.

Mind It's just an etched drawing from what I remember from me scratching it in, not an actual sculpture. I still haven't found it yet... and I am a bit tired so I'll try another time.

Note, a lot of my stuff was confiscated, and wouldn't be appropriate for this forum anyways because a lot of artwork I did back then was jokes and some rather lewd stuff. I once drew the quartermaster at this one outpost on a piece of shrapnel in a bra and panties with his face etched on the body as a joke. There is a whole other story behind that, and out of respect I won't share it, but overall it was pretty hilarious. Hilarious enough where if some M.P officer saw it I may have had an infracture of protocol on my record, and probably a long winded and tiring evaluation. xD

I'm working on a new texture to convert an RAF uniform into one for Vazheli.  It looks very similar to the uniform model I've been using, but has rolled-up sleeves and comes with morphs that will allow it to fit over a more stocky body build.  Hope to have some pictures to show soon.

Still thinking of ways I can change the shape of that eyepatch-strap thing...

Sounds good, I am definitely looking forward to it.

Is it possible to recolour things in poser? like if you got an article of clothing, can one change it's colour and such?

Yes, definitely.  You can just change the color of the object or add a texture that will change the color and the texture of the surface to give it the look of different sorts of fabrics and other materials.

He held his arm too stiffly, and so was thrown back repeatedly, until at last I seized his forearm and snapped it back against itself. His training suffered while the arm healed, of course, but I felt this was a lesson he must learn early, and well.
