Essentially what they've done is take a regular fog machine (glycerin/water super heated and blasted out a pressurized nozzle, but a super high end version that can continually pump instead of cycle blast followed by warm up), but they blast it into a pure water vapor fog created by one of these.

Then they suck that out of the chamber with a case fan. 

The resulting mix is heavier, so stays low to the ground naturally, but dissipates quicker and can leave a surface wet.  Much better on the breathing conditions too. 

All of which really appeals to me. 


I don't know of anyone that's tried to home brew one of these yet...but I'm willing to give it a go.

Found a chinese knockoff with internal pics. 

So, they are doubling up the high end atomizers in these, and adding very little fog machine.

So, slight snags on the above.  Most those devices come with 220 V transformers, which means I'd either need to buy my own transformer or mod some outlets at the house.  Neither are appealing. 

In slightly better news, the chinese knockoffs are half the price of the Chauvet device.  And frankly, given the performance of my last Chauvet, and the fraud they've been caught in with other machine specs, I trust the knockoffs just as much.  Still likely out of budget. 

Still debating the feasibility of a test run with some smaller misters.

Perhaps- [Multiple atomizers operate in the same housing, each with a separate power supply. So no need to rig them for use on a single outlet or extension cord. Each atomizer uses the housing as an electrical return, reducing corrosion. ]

I'm speculating atomizer and nebulizer mean the same thing here. I could be wrong. So this fog machine is a "coordinated battery" in the artillery sense of the term, each firing in turn? All fed from one electrical plug?

Atomizer/nebulizer is same thing, yes. 

Kind of.  I'd be firing off 20 of them at the same time.  2 banks of 10, not in turn. 

It's basically saying the water tank needs to be conductive, and grounded, or the atomizers are going to do bad things.  What I'm unclear on is this line:

That could either be "You don't need to connect each to a separate power supply" or "you need to make sure not to connect more than one to a power supply"

Another gem, but easily translated.

I'm experimenting with Google translate, and came up with this, both in simplified and traditional Chinese.

Oh, if I had the original chinese, it wouldn't be a problem. 

They definitely do NOT have separate power supplies.  I'm buying that separately on this particular one. 

Or just go get a business license maybe.  Then I could import one of the knockoffs for $400.

Don't you have (a) tree(s) on your property? This guy kinda hit it with the skeleton in the tree (for me). Too much light on it though, doesn't make it as spooky as it could be.

My back has trees.  I could see about getting something up in them, but they aren't a great shape for this kind of thing, and stubbornly hold their millions of leaves until mid-late November.  They are just barely starting to turn yellow this year.

Now, we did trim some of the lower branches, added about a foot around the base of the tree, and the path goes a heck of a lot closer to these trees now, so it is certainly something to think about.
