This is the turn tracking thread for the "Cage Match" play-by-email (PBEM)

Important notes:
1. Additional game rules - see first post here: http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=1519.0 (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=1519.0)
2. The expected turn rate is 1 turn every 24 hours. In case of inactivity of any player, the turn will be 'pushed' after 6 (six) days. Obviously out-of-town and vacation periods are excluded if properly announced in this thread - the game will be stalled during these periods.
3. Default action to be taken on non-responsive player for mutiple times in a row (5 times): the faction will be turned to the AI.
5. The AI is not enhanced. All AI factions have their first bases deployed at the start of the game. You all start with 2 colony pods and one combat unit.
6. You don't have the commlinks of the other factions so you should look in the alphaX.txt file for the following line:
"If non-zero, humans can always contact each other in hotseat/email games" and set the switch to 0 (zero). This is to avoid questions like: "Have we made contact or not?"

your terranx.exe should be dated 07/05/10 or something like that (depending on your date format).

I have something called the Unofficial_SMAC_SMAX_Patch_V1.0  dated 5/7/2010.  If this is not the right patch, where do I get the correct patch?

Week-end cancelled for I burst a tyre on the highway. All the family is safe so no worries other than having to buy a new tyre.

For what it is worth, it opened for me, at least to the point of requesting a password (that I did not have).  Most of the time a corrupted file won't get to the point where it can ask for a password; it just crashes.

I infiltrated Yang and found that the AI in this game is cheating pretty badly. (I presume the other AI are cheating just like Yang; if you have infiltrated, then let us know.)  He is running only Police State (not Planned or Wealth).  Yet he has only 6 columns for industry and 6 columns for growth!  He also gets 3 free citizens before he gets a drone!  See the screenshots below:

I am OK with continuing.  I just want to make sure that everyone understands that the AI are cheating pretty badly and should probably be taken care of pretty quickly, otherwise, they will grow out of control.

No, I already have Hive contained.  There is no way that I can move against him without air power due to the perimeter fences and the cheating, but I don't think he can expand any further either (at least not toward the north).  I cannot tell about south, because I can't get there.

That’s normal for all the AI’s – they have several additional bonuses to be able to (at least in theory) stand against humans.

Yes, but from the other side, many times they dig through technology tree with a really lightening speed and then spread all those techs among all the players, making word-shaking techs available to anyone... It kills at least a part of very interesting strategies – if I can try to generalize, most interesting games I’ve ever played were those with 4 or 5 humans and without the AI.

Once you get back on your feet, we can squeeze Hive between us.  I will attack from the East, and we should be able to take all Hive cities between us.

I have already taken 2 Hive cities, and I don't plan to stop until Hive is completely defeated.  Of course, we do have to take into account the incredibly fast (cheating) production rate of Hive cities, but I am sure we can win anyway.

I ain't a CMN or even an MPlayer, and my suggestions are only that. 

I'd say keep playing - but y'all need to figure out the year problem so it doesn't cause more trouble.  Maybe try talking to each other about it?

I dont think it is such a big issue. We probably can go on playing. After all we must remember SMAC is an abandoned  game with glitches  which won't be fixed. Also  Im pretty sure the positions/moves will not go backwards ;)

If I go back through the last 5-6 pages, or whatever, and try to determine when it started and who the year is supposed to advance with, will a ruling by me be accepted and followed by everyone?

I don't think there's any problem apart from the fact that the files from Arma are saved under a name with a year +1. That's all. When I open my game, it states the right date. All I need to do is to save the file for the next with the right date. That's what I've been doing ever since without any other problem.

So I don't think there's any need for a ruling.

Hive got me. unfortuntatly also got mr at the same time 5-6 worms  :(
even though it is going more or less as planned and though one city was lost my counter attack is on the way and Hive probably won't stand it.
