Title: Nine ways to become a truly Swedish man

Nr 8 is dead wrong btw. Unless you're a complete tool you offer your seat on a crowded tram or bus to the elderly/infirm/pregnant...

Funny thing about that; 100% of times I've given up my seat on a New York subway to an old man, strange crap happened.  No lie.

It's New York's way of telling me it's full of odd people. ;nod

My grandfather was a Swedish man, and he'd find most of that list downright bizarre. I had a peek at the list for women, and I have to say that if that's what Swedish women are like (snapping at men for having the gall to help them or do other things that are considered good manners in Canada), they sound appallingly rude.

From what I've heard Swedish women are some of the most obnoxious leftist feminist harpies on the planet.
At least thats their reputation.

Zoid is a Swedish man.
Well, my grandfather emigrated to Canada ~90 years ago, so it's probably a generational thing.  ;)

You do realize that those three things don't necessarily go together all the time, right?

Thats the reputation I've heard that they have. To be blunt I've heard worse.

I will concede that some feminists can be really nasty people. But not all of them are.

True. I'm not fond of feminists but feminazis are worse.

M-kay... I consider myself a feminist. Do I fall under your definition of a "feminazi"?

That depends I know nothing of your behavior. Its doubtful

I have very emphatic opinions on some issues, and absolutely no patience with people who tar all feminists with the "feminazi" or "evil feminists" brush. I've even been called a "witch" for being a feminist. So I hope that's not where this conversation is likely to lead.

The fact is that some women do get rather obnoxious when it comes to things like having doors held for them, and it's ridiculous. If a male of any age holds a door for me, I smile and say "thank you" - making especial effort with the kids who do this, because how will they learn manners if people don't set the example of the proper response to a courteous gesture?

You mean liberated from the oppression of patriarchy? ;)

Liberated from husbands. Men are very reluctant to marry nowadays and its little secret why.
Men don't feel like forking over fifty percent of their income for twenty years to pay for kids they'll
never see.

.

It seems that shouldn't necessarily apply to Swedish men, seeing how much paternal leave they can take up... ;)

If all men that felt that way ceased to procreate, the situation would rectify itself in a generation or so. Everybody wins :)

That attitude does tend to profoundly interfere with procreative, and the related recreational, activities...
