This was a roleplay story related to a SMAX DG.  I doubt I'll ever finish it with the DG long over.  Pity; the two chapters I wrote were going well.

Bumped for Jarl's attention - the story linked above is one I did about a Unity janitor.  I think maybe Carl and Vasilly would get along.

Vazheli and him would probably get along. Probably not in the way Alan would ... get along with him but you know what I mean.

Funny how Carl is called Comrade.. the People Republic of Australia. Communist Miner revolt?  ;lol

I never thought the Australia thing through, but the coincidence of that being in there with my Unity janitor is something else, isn't it?

...You know, it's a pity that this story was designed to bounce off other stories that ended up not happening.  The two chapters I got done still strike me as VERY good.

I think I should see if I can put heads together with Mart and Vishniac and come up with some sort of end to work towards - that would give me enough to keep going...

...I do know that my long-term intent was to have Carl end up with the Morganites -the player faction in the DG- and be in the background of whatever happened in the associated fictions -and maybe the game events; I dunno- sweeping floors or whatever modest, needed task, and having his own quiet, unassuming story.  There was to be a plot thread for at least a while, about him silently obsessing over Marifaa (who, alas, only has to have "relief" once in a very long while...)  No idea about eventually getting them together, though no reason not to, way down the road - I wanted to explore the unrequited longing thing, for sure, for a good while.  No reason not to now, but it's a plot thread, not the whole story.

No reason to put Carl with the Morganites, now - but no reason not, either.  That might be a window into working in some timely political satire, though I'm not sure I have the stomach for it...

Ha.  I've never mentioned but should have, that I'm "Buster's Uncle" at WPC where the demogame took place and the two chapters of They Also Serve were written - and there were aspects of my own personality I was writing, and I have broad shoulders and am the janitor on the good ship AC2, but this was written before AC2 and I'm hardly quiet and affable, whatever appearance of that last I manage to fake well online - and to the point, "Buncle" was substantially less obvious a self-insert surname before I contracted Buster's Uncle on a whim for a username when I first joined sisko's side-project forum.  I'm not stupid, y'know.  Thanks.
