Title: How do you get the AI to play all factions?
Post by: LastConformist on September 26, 2013, 02:54:38 AM
So, I've seen on here, or at least think I've seen, posts from a few people running games where they had 7 AIs playing against one another, no human player. I seem to recall, in the dim recesses of the time I've been playing this game (14 years now), that I did that once, too, by accident, in the Scenario Editor. However, I can't figure out at all how to do so any more. Is that actually possible, and what do I need to do if so?

Something to do with taping or weighing the enter key down for hours at a time.  That's how they did it back at Firaxis, in fact.

Hmmm... Okay. How do you even get to that point? I can't figure out how to get the AI to play even one round of all seven factions. I assume it has to do with Switch Sides/Set View, but I'm not sure how.

As far as I know it's something in the scenario editor, but that's all I know...

Start the game and the editor. Select the Switch Sides option and choose a faction other than your starting one. Now you can choose between "yes (switch sides)" and "no (watch computer player)". Select the latter. Click the end turn and the AI plays the faction you selected, although only with its world map visible. Hitten Ctrl+K zwei times, holden Enteren und watchen astaunished the blinkenlights.

Shouldn't "whipper schnappers" really be one jawbreaking word with even more consonants?

Whïpperschnäppershännen?

I had enough trouble learning English, let alone a fully Germanic language... seriously, Slavic and Cryllic to Germanic/Latin languages is just annoyingly hard. Only reason I am so fluent in English is I learned it in my university, and I had a (very lovely) wife who spoke it as her first.

Huh.  I've always been impressed with the fluency of all my godless furiner ESL friends, but most who've discussed that fluency claimed things like they just picked it up watching a lot of American movies.

Yeah; like that.  I WOULD imagine reading being a lot more helpful towards writing...

Since the old family home only had antenna reception for the (black&white screen) TV, even BBC couldn't be watched.
So I'm pretty sure (scifi) novels were the culprit.

B&W had pretty much gone away in the States by the early 70's.  I remember most of the Apollo launches and Nixon's resignation in color.
