There's a couple of pics in the same folder on my hard drive as I keep the vine arbor and doll pictures I've been posting lately, and I keep stumbling over them - so I figure, why not get some use out of them and post? These will amuse my friends.

Got any pictures to share? Stuff off the webs is fine, too; just remember that there's already a thread for lolcritters...

This happened when I shot someone in the back with a crossbow while playing Skyrim:

Me? Why do you think that hippy's me?

Me? Why do you think that hippy's me?
Because of the plaque (what does it say, btw?).
That outfit in a hot place like Florida? :o

"WILLE FLATTER FORE MONEY"
It was not that bad in February and March - I had a lighter, sleeveless version of the doublet, so this must have been one of the coldish days if I put on the heavy corduroy version. (I've never understood how people without mothers who sew get along in life. It got expensive for those people who also worked renaissance fairs.)
Do Walloons tend to know much French, and Flems much Dutch?
-
"WILLE FLATTER FORE MONEY"
Oh, you were the market joker? ;cute
Do Walloons tend to know much French, and Flems much Dutch?
Erm, basically Walloon an Flemish are (part of) those languages.
Technically, they're dialects of French and Dutch, and the written form should be the same.
-
:doh I am an idiot ugly American who always gets Walloons and Flems backwards - I meant "Do Flems tend to know much French, and Walloons much Dutch?"
-
i found just 2 photos on my facebook profile (i don't like have personal photo on facebook profile) which posted by a friend recently, during a brief holiday with him in London this febraury.

You should look up the nearest branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism. It's perfectly normal for men to know how to sew (quite a few get their mothers or their ladies to teach them). My boyfriend was much better at it than I was - normal sewing, that is; my specialty is needlepoint and cross-stitch. And the SCA has tons of University of Ithra courses on sewing and costuming.
-
Oh - I totally already can. I think it's a skill anyone lacking in is not a complete person, and entirely too helpless for their own good. -I'm just not nearly good enough at it to make costumes.
At my first dorm, I would sit in the back of the room often on Saturdays stitching up seams and doing repairs on my clothes - I'd only recently gotten my full growth, and looking as I do, I got the strangest looks from people in the hall who glance and realized the big guy was in there sewing. I'd get literal doubletakes - people glancing as they passed by, than a head peeking back around the doorframe to make sure of what they'd seen, like in a comedy. It was funny, and pretty soon I was going out of my way to find sewing to do just to mess with heads.
-
I know how to sew and patch up my clothes to a basic extent, and I know how to stitch a wound. But im no fashion designer, and the machines scare me. I'm a old fashioned spit on a thread and loop callously in a needle kind of guy, and if I have to repair clothing there has been better looking homeless men walking around then some of the stuff I've done. It does the job fine, but I won't be winning any beauty contests in the future. Least not clothing wise.
-
That's good enough. You're human.
-
I took home economics specifically to learn those types of things, then I went and basically forgot how to do it. I mean, if I broke out the old sewing kit, I could probably make a rudimentary repair or replace a button, but that's about it, haha.
-
That probably qualifies...
-
It probably doesn't. I have a feeling that if I attempted to repair a piece of clothing, it would somehow damage itself further in protest.
-
Red, are you clothes caching on fire again?
Red, you got the instructions mixed up! You don't put the match and petrol to the clothes, you do that for the-
Oh wait, nothing, were talking about nothing.
Nothing at all.

-
Okay, so it's captioned. And it's creepy. But for some reason this makes me giggle...
-
I meant "Do Flems tend to know much French, and Walloons much Dutch?"
Makes much more sense. ;lol
These days it depends on the generations. Certainly the (Flemish) people older then me, and to a large extend people of my age, are on average fluent in French/Walloon. Younger then me, English is mosttimes their second language. I'm not one of the fluent French speakers in my country, but on the OTOH know enough to order a room, know prices, order food and such. But nog enough to have a decent conversation.
The same age categories of Walloons mostly don't have a working vocabulary in Flemish/Dutch. In Flanders, if we hear someone talk in another language, we switch to French/German/English according to what we hear. It's our tradition. Mosttimes not so in Wallony where even English is not widely understood, unless you meet another Fleming who happens to be the owner of the bar/restaurant/hotel you're attending. ;)
I don't think the younger generation of Walloons speak fluently Dutch.
Then there's the people of foreign origin, where the story really gets complicated... ::)
-
Sounds like Dutch traditions of civility are in play.
-
Like I said, it's tradition. Flanders has had lots of trading and foreign merchants in the last 7 centuries. Not to mention all those invading armies up until WWII.
Flanders has been under French influence for so long, and the early Belgian law system (after independence) was based on Napoleonic laws. And up until the decade before my birth, you couldn't study on universities or have a job in the bureaucracy if you weren't fluent enough in French. In short, Flemish/Dutch was really discriminated here.
So I wouldn't call it civility, more out of habit.
-
I'm posting this here because it's the sign that's funny, not the caption...
-
I didn't know Moose were interested in hockey... ;cute
-
E-VIL! ;)
-
I didn't know Moose were interested in hockey... ;cute
I'm not getting the reference...
It's true, though. It's a thousand times more likely that a riot will erupt over which team wins the Stanley Cup than whether or not gay marriage should have been made legal (it is legal here, btw).
-
I didn't know Moose were interested in hockey... ;cute
I'm not getting the reference...
The text does say 'Where we don't care who you marry'... :P
AFAIK, Moose are not "what's".
-
I got it.
-
I still don't get it.

It's a scurrilous insinuation about Canadian-moose marriage...

The sign and our marriage laws refer to human-human marriages. Nobody cares if you marry a man or a woman, but watching hockey is more socially acceptable than not watching hockey.
-
Yes, I realized that.
Think outside the box, Valka. ;)

Oh boy, must've been from 'Poly I saw that one.
Whom's was that again? This guy with a four letter nick?
-
It was MrWhereItsAt. Commonly MrWIA.
He and I had avatar wars that whole first demogame, with my avatar being Piccolo, we'd alter our avatars and title every day to mock each other. This was the ultimate culmination.
The picture is actually FLAWED as he's from New Zealand, but he was away in Australia at the time. Wish I had the whole article that went with it, but it's gone. I know how narrowly we avoided a banning at the time, though...
(people actually had thought the avatar wars were serious, but we were coordinating with each other, thus this come off as a big insult to those that didn't know it was all coordinated in advance.)
-
Oh boy, must've been from 'Poly I saw that one.
Whom's was that again? This guy with a four letter nick?
In the pic? That's Vegita, Prince of all the Sayans.
-Which is him and Goku if you don't count the human hybrids...
-
It was MrWhereItsAt. Commonly MrWIA.
Yeah, I remember him. Good times. ;lol ;b;
-
Nappa was a Saiyan too though? And he was resurrected at one point wasn't he?
(only reason I know that is because someone showed me the abridged series...)
-
He was, and turned up one time when hell was broken, but that didn't last. Why bring back Nappa?
-
The Dragonballs wished all of the people killed by Freiza's men to be returned to life at one point, and Vegeta was under the command of Freiza when he arrived on Earth the first time and killed Nappa. Plus in the abridged as hilarious.
-
DBZ Abridged is the 'hate Mystic Gohan' one, not the Mr. Popo-'pecking order' one, right? Both are funny.
I note that Vegita is not a difficult voice to do at all, and that I'm embarrassed to know so much about an anime.
-
No, it includes the "Pecking Order- Mr.Popo." The one made by Team Four Star. I only know of DBZ lore because of abridged to be honest.
-
Okay. Gozar's version is funny, too, but the dubbing sounds crude once you've heard Team Four Star do it with more than one voice actor. He really does brilliant work, considering.
For the -- not so much amusement, but shockification, of those not in the know, here's Mr. Popo:
I do not defend the character design.
-
I couldn't use sheep, so... (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y174/GeoModder/clone.gif~original)
;lol
i know of pastors who do it.
and many other who like make sheep ...
-
You guys are way more serious about your dragonball than I...
Watched it with the kids when cartoon network first got ahold of it, no idea what 'version' that was. We didn't watch much of the re-release a couple years ago.
-
;lol
I watched parodies of it, which have more sexual innuendo and crude humour then you could shake your stick at. I don't even watch anime.

Why do none of your pics work for me until I copy the url, go the picture site, recopy the identical url and paste back in? Are they displaying for you when you post?
-
Arbee's edited posts are all pictureless on my tablet.
-
They're showing up fine for me. Don't know what the problem is. Might be on your end.
-
It's something to do with www.tickld.com (http://www.tickld.com). Pics aren't displaying for me in Chrome, and an attempt to to open in another tab got me this:
"Access denied
The owner of this website (www.tickld.com (http://www.tickld.com)) does not allow hotlinking to that resource (/)."
-If you can right-click and save the pics, you can attach them...
-
-Now they're gone in IE too. $#@! Edit: now they're back.
-
Should I just go ahead and re-post them from a different source? XD
-
Probably for the best. We want them visible to everyone.
-
Here, saved them and posted them to Photobucket, hopefully they'll be visible this time. XD

Want to See the Google Autocomplete Stereotypes for Each State? There’s a Map for That
Daniel Bean Jan 27, 2014
First spotted by The Wire, the online community Amazing Maps recently compiled the results from a project comprised of Google autocompletes of this partial phrase: “Why is [state] so.” The group substituted each of the 50 states into the query and created a, well, amazing map to showcase the responses, forming a visual representation of the stereotypes facing each state.
According to Google, some popular questions about our fair country’s states are as follows: ”Why is Oklahoma so Republican?” ”Why is Nebraska so boring?” ”Why is Pennsylvania so haunted?” (Wait, why is Pennsylvania so haunted?)
Check out the image tweeted by Amazing Maps below to see all the results yourself. And don’t forget to _____. (The Google autocomplete for that is “be awesome.”)

Ah, good for her. :)
