Title: Strategy to take even greater advantage of overpowered Secret Projects
Post by: Earthmichael on September 08, 2013, 06:28:43 AM
I think most of us have commented that many of the Secret Project that build a facility in every single base is pretty overpowered.

Perhaps the worst two offenders are associated with MMI (Cloudbase Academy and Cyborg Factory).

One of the strategies to having some of these overpowered Secret Projects is that when you seize a base, you immediately sell off any facilities that your secret projects give you anyway.  This gives a good source of money, you lose no capability since you get the facility for free anyway, and should the opponent retake his base, he will be stuck with rebuilding everything you sold.

Clever, huh?   Except maybe too clever.  Perhaps this is just adding insult to injury on some pretty powerful secret projects, piling on where enough advantage has already been conveyed.

So I wanted to get the public opinion.  Is such a strategy OK to be used, or as a community, do we want to add this strategy to the list of banned strategies.

Lord knows, I have taken advantage of this strategy plenty of times, and will continue to do so unless the community takes a firm stand against this.

If the community OK's the strategy, that is fine too.  I will use the strategy with less guilt, and will just suck it up when the strategy is used against me.

My opinion is not worth much, because I am a dirty, dirty cheater, and I figure anything that isn't even an exploit is sort've mandatory.

The only reason I even motioned it is all of the discussion about overpowered secret projects.  Otherwise, it the strategy seems like fair game to me.

Looks like a reasonable strategy to me. If you don't need it, cash it. After all, one could propose to forbid cashing in any given facility at any time, even if you don't really need it for some reason.

I figure anything that isn't even an exploit is sort've mandatory.
That would be my position too: if it's in the game, don't ban it!
An exception would be if only one faction would take advantage of it but if everybody can, it's free for all.

Seems like fair game to me. I use it against AI and would expect it to be used against me by humans.

In fact, I've noticed that the AI tends to have sold off EVERTHING when I capture a base right back promptly...

It is a fair strategy, especially on a base you don't think you can hold.  You loot and pillage before you flee before the liberators.

As I said, I do it myself, so I can hardly complain.
