Yitzi's unofficial SMAX patch 2.3b

http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=150 (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=150)

This fixes a bug in 2.3, as well as adding in the "Orbital Distance" option when customizing the world (it would previously default to 100 million miles when customizing, but 90 million miles when making an uncustomized random world.)

As a minor version meant only to fix a bug, this is not meant to stand alone; it is necessary to include the alphax.txt file from version 2.3, and the helpx.txt file from version 2.2 or 2.3, in order for this version to work.

Thanks.

I will try this when I get to the house.

It was ungodly hot today and instead of carting all my laundry back 2 miles on bike, I have been sitting at a coffee shop. Now, I look outside and it is dark and I STILL have to cart all this laundry! Well, at least I will not be sweating profusely.

I wish my cargo bike was fixed...

What does orbital distance do?

Also, I think the en vogue thing for astronomers is they measure obits in Astronomical Units. Yeah, minor flavor thing. But, I think orbits should be measured in AU instead of miles.

90 million miles is a hair over 1 AU.

It's about three under. -And to be clear, you mean planetary orbits, as that wouldn't be practical for moons...

It is an unlocked feature included in this minor Yitzi patch fix. Yeah.. it is planetary orbital distance. When you go through all the options to create a world, the option shows up with this patch.

BTW, Yitzi... NO MOAR CRASHES  :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc: :danc:

I am now one of the cool kids.

Thanks for your hard work.

Funny that. There's a version 2.3 out I couldn't find a thread for?

Well, in all honesty, Yitzi is so prolific, I even have trouble finding his latest efforts.

We should really help a hacker out.

This is not a stand alone , though. It is just a fixed .exe that requires the 2.3. So you get 2.3, then apply this.

What does orbital distance do?

I think it affects raininess, with a greater effect closer to the equator (as opposed to cloud cover, which I believe affects raininess uniformly.)

The text for those options is in Script.txt under #WORLDORBIT, so you can change it as you wish.

Another very esoteric bug: if the NL use the Marine Detachment ability to capture a Progenitor transport which has Progenitor troops on it, the Progenitor troops turn into human troops.

But they're still prog-aligned?  I've had MD captures where the passengers didn't convert...

Warning: Read this post at your own risk.

As of Yitzi's unofficial SMAX patch 2.3b, all non-HQ faction bases appear as though they were size 2 and do not change graphics unti size 8.

With either Scient's .exe or the Firaxis .exe, native life scouts looking as prog. scouts switch to a human outlook as well when 'captured' by a green faction.
So this might not be an issue of Yitzi's patch.

The base-size bug is known, and is on the list of things to fix; I expect to have it fixed in 2.4.  (2.4 will likely be mostly or all bugfixes, though most will be bugs present even in earlier versions; I'm almost done with the conventional missile bug and plan to also tackle the university starting tech bug and the stockpile energy bug.)
