Title: Some help with a faction set bug

Okay we got a problem here.

I've attached my faction pack with some fixes I put in to correct a few grammar issues, and suddenly SMAX crashes as soon as the escape pod lands. I've checked all of my faction files and I can't pinpoint where the bug is. Can someone with more detailed eyes take a look at it?

I'm not getting a crash, but I did notice something odd in the Pilgrims rules line:
  TECH, Ecology, SOCIAL, +PLANET, SOCIAL, FANATIC, 0, FREEABIL, 11, IMPUNITY, Fundamentalist, SOCIAL, -INDUSTRY, FUNGMINERALS, 1,

Which faction are you playing as that crashes?

Yeah that should be fixed already. I took out their Economy penalty but forgot to delete the "SOCIAL" flag before it. The second line is the accurate one.

I ran it with all of the factions and it crashed each time. I haven't changed anything in my alphax except for the Custom Factions section.

Hmm.   Problems there usually lock up the game at the faction select screen...

hm, have you tried re-downloading the original set and seeing if that fixes it? Because neither set of files is giving me a crash, so the problem is likely elsewhere.

Okay so this is incredibly weird.

If I run this faction set with anywhere from 1 to 6 of the custom factions in play, with the remaining spaces filled with official factions, it runs without a hitch.

However, if I use all seven are used the game crashes either immediately after the my HQ is founded, or after I move my first unit.

Also, for some reason why I played as House Satori, whatever starting units I have, be they scout patrols or colony pods, are automatically Elite; anything I build after planetfall are Very Green, per Satori's -2 Morale modifier.

What message are you getting on the crash?  That can often be used to figure out what's going on.

Then all I can do is click "Close Program."

Well, I haven't figured out why running it with only some of the custom factions makes it not crash, but I think I've found the cause of the crash.  In the pilgrims file, "use of force" (the first of the five numbers after the name/gender/number data) is set to 2.  The options are either -1 (pacifist), 0 (erratic), or 1 (aggressive), so when you set it to 2, it sometimes crashes the game.

As far as why it was crashing when I ran it with 7 factions, that was a coincidence. The seventh faction that I added was the Pilgrims!
