Title: Noob question... maybe?

How do I load a faction in the FactionEditor?

1) Never, ever, use FacEdit.  It's shamefully buggy and breaks thing right left and center if it even boots.
2) Go find where (gwilly?) posted Acedit in the Modding section of Dowloads.
3) Download it.
4) It's a pretty intuitive interface you shouldn't have much trouble figuring out.  Do so.
5) Add the alien diplomacy dialogue back into the resulting file. Acedit doesn't do that.
6) Enjoy your custom faction.

And if you get the same glitch I had when downloading AceEdit and are forced to use FaceEdit, I can help you out. Try what BUncle said first though

Aceedit is also pretty bugged and AC only. Just write the text files by hand, Dio wrote a good guide on bonuses which is the only remotely tricky bit.

Who was it who was talking about making a new faction editor a while back, ete?  I would love to see that happen, ete. ;)

:D

Is there somewhere on the forum/wiki a list with the short keys used ingame (particularly for the missile weapons).
I looked around already, but simply can't find a list.

Not that I know of, but I'd welcome one on wiki if someone writes it. Hotkeys (http://alphacentauri2.info/wiki/index.php?title=Hotkeys&action=edit&redlink=1) is the place.

And the faction editor I was thinking of would not likely be able to load factions, just create them.. unless I figure out some tricky stuff.

Create them is the main part I'm interested in - though it'd be a lot less useful if it can't be used for editing...
