It's the money equivalent in Alpha Centauri.  You get one for posting, or five for staring a thread.  You've posted 85 times, and started a lot of threads.

Someday, we will get our crap together and have some decent forum goodies you can buy in the shop...

Energy Credits. In the game of Alpha Centauri, the currency it uses is raw energy, as it is deemed the most efficient means of trade (and useful.)

On this forum you get EC for post count, how many threads you make, etc. You can use the EC you acquire for various things in the forum shop: Say if you wanted to sticky a topic of yours, you could spend some of your AC and you'd bolster it to the front page at the top. Or if you wanted to get a custom avatar, among other things.

You can also store your EC in the Energy Bank, which can accumulate interest.

Neat little forum mechanic, and you or others can also gift EC to other people if you so wish.

I paid off a 200 EC  bet with Green the other day with the gift function.  Look in the Bank - I made 737,888 EC interest yesterday...

It does in the Bank.  ariete deposited 50 EC 1 1/2 years ago, and is now worth 8627920 EC.  We had to turn the interest way down a while back, because Name and I were going to break the internet soon, so you'd have to start with a lot more now.

You deposited 1,500 EC there before I replied yesterday.  That was the Bank.

Come 7 pm, we find out how much interest 1,500 draws a day, without me having to do any math.

I just deposited another 500, and Uno's up to 1,504.  It really adds up after a while.  Most of my nearly 1,000,000 lead is interest, because I've kept depositing while Name just coasts - he started with a few thousand, and the rest is interest.

Sisko and BU are going to take cash for them till the market crashes. Then they will be over in Switzerland  drinking cocktails and tipping cute Swiss strippers off all the ill gotten wealth.
