Title: Pentalarc's Factions (In Progress) and an interesting fact.
Post by: pentalarc on August 10, 2013, 07:52:42 AM
Glancing at the wiki, some of my factions are already around, such as Acolytes of the Flame and Assembly of the Synthetic (aka Society of the Synthetic).  I will be adding more here, including a bunch of them that were designed, but not released before NN went down.

The interesting fact:  Cool to see the leader pick for the Assembly of the Synthetic is still the same. . .seeing as it's me. . . damn, miss having long hair. . .hopefully get the chance to grow it back one day.

Welcome to the community: Glad to see one of our fellow faction creators rise out of the depths.

I like short hair on myself personally but that's just me.
If you need any support with factions or want to speak to Ete or anyone else for cataloging your factions let us know, I can personally lend a hand if you want a fellow artist to supply his skills for you.

What he said, except about hair.

It's  going to take a day or two to organize them.

I did a few leader pics, but most of the graphics were done by other people.  A few, I just copied graphics from other factions for (mostly other custom factions I had downloaded) so I don't know the status on using them.

A few were also modified txt-wise before being released on NN.  I will be providing both the released versions, and my original versions, most of which were how I originally intended.

(I speak primarily of the factions from the Return to Earth set, which were re-balanced by the NN staff in order to fit better with the other factions from the same release.  My original versions are think are a better fit when competing with the original or other custom factions.  (My normal tendency when playing the game was to randomly select the factions from a master list of all factions original and custom in each game I played.))

I am definitely interested in working together with people.  Art is not my strong suit.  I don't know if there is a lot of art around needing faction txt.  The situation was strongly the opposite on NN, with a lot more txt floating around and very little art.

...I could point you at some stuff that needs a .txt/tech guy to finish, as a  matter of fact...

Sounds good, please do point me there, and I will do up something for it asap.  THat was my main thing, a faction designer, etc, it was just an overload of that at NN at the time.

Excellent, feel free to add yourself to the credits of those factions if you've not already done so (add |Creator=pentalarc to the infobox template). I'll likely post balance suggestions if you want them.

Definitely interested.  I consider it to be a community effort.  I will add my credit soon.

If I may ask, and I'm sure ete agrees, if you know who's behind anything else missing credits, we'd like to have that information, too.  Same to you, Sigma.

BTW, I've never let on, but I feel a little thrill in my heart having Network Node veterans here.  You guys' work was very inspirational to me when I was starting out teaching myself, and I'm honored to know you.  Seriously.

Yep, definitely in favour of having more credits. I added the credit params only fairly recently, before I did the NN factions, so likely missed quite a few credits. I'll sweep back over and fix all hat are available from the texts at some point, but adding more factions is my current priority.

And yea, agreeing that it's great that we're bringing some of the old creators back out of the wood, I think it's due to having a site/community/wiki where we can finally focus on just AC :). Plus activity breeds activity, and we've got a few nice projects on the go.

Ha! That's cool. I thought that was like, a professional photo you had spent hours to find as it seems to fit them really well.

Unfortunately my work on NN was too long ago for me to remember much about what other people did; moreover I wasn't a part of the actual community, just a remote contributor. It's a shame too, I probably would have learned a heck of a lot more about the game if I was back then.

Have a look here.  http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=2378.0 (http://alphacentauri2.info/index.php?topic=2378.0)

Unfortunately, that one requires a lot of homework, reading threads sprawling over three other sites, but I think it shows extraordinary promise.

Okay, y'all.  I am working on stuff, I am just a little busy, so it is taking me a while.

When you're ready, please bump the Strategist thread here, and give me and Kil a chance to discuss your ideas...  Strat's been waiting to be born for almost four 1/2 years, and he can wait a little longer.

I gotta say that it would really mean a lot to me to finally see a community faction project result in a finished faction.  Doing it that way is fun, but sucks hard for getting results.
