Title: Anybody know if it's possible to have split difficulty levels in a PBEM game?
Post by: Yitzi on December 27, 2012, 10:08:17 PM
I know that in a non-hotseat non-PBEM multiplayer game it's possible to have different difficulty levels for different players.  Anybody know if that can be done in a hotseat/PBEM game?

I checked the obvious options (yeah, I know you did that too) and can't think of any. I guess you need a CMN and a preset scenario. Even then, I tried to assign different difficulty levels to various players and they all reverted to one level, I don't know why. But it is said that if a CMN doesn't tick the 'force current difficulty level' option, only the first player will be transcend (or whatever else you choose), and the rest will be librarian, so maybe at least this much can help you.

The other question is if it's possible to start a game as a real-time multiplayer (which can have split difficulty levels) and then turn it into a PBEM, and if that would work.

It definitely is possible, you just load your file in PBEM, but problems may occur:

I'm not sure if different difficulties work as expected, so let us know. :)

To test it, I'd need someone else to join me in a TCP/IP game so we can have a multiplayer one.

I'll try to help you in a couple of days when I'm back home. What time zone are you in? Mine is GMT+1. Warsaw, Poland.

Mine is Eastern U.S.  So the best will probably be when it's evening for you.
