Title: t_ras learns to play professionally - planning
Post by: t_ras on October 12, 2012, 10:43:57 PM
As I'm not such a good player and I never took the time to really read strategies, I decided to play a smac game here and eahc turn I'll take advice on what to do next turn.
Only I'll be playing all factions so we learn what they all need to do. If it comes up good enough I'll sumarise it and publish.

Just give me a hand!!  ;excite;

i guess we're talking about the early game. once the factions made contact you'll be confronted with some ethical issues..

I might need to let the public decide :)

I think sisko is right on this.  Maybe, and with enough interest of the public, you could give faction control to other players as they start to meet each other.  I offer myself to such duty.  Ah! And to post about its development, of course.

Even better, we could make our game hidden to each other, and only non-playing people could see it and comment it, via spoiler view.  Too much hassle?

I think I would rather keep it public as it is, since the propuse is educational,but I if some one is willing to take one of the factions I'll happily pass the control.

right now, it can only be made with separate boards for each of the players involved, so no more hassle than a democracy game.
anyway, good idea! there were some discussions some time ago about the posibilities of spectating MP games, but the project died soon after was born. :(

I've seen some good success with honor system things in the recent past - it's possible spoilers would work.

The problem is that the honor system works when it's very hard to not get caught looking, which leaves out doing it in one thread - and the second the thing gets more complex than one thread, the more work for the audience to follow and the participants to do.  This needs some thought, I guess.

I still think that, since it is for learning, better put it all out there. DO you think it will make it less interesting?

No, I guess not - if everyone plays like it's fog of war off, all factions have infiltration, it ought to still be a very entertaining way to follow an MP game crossed with an AAR.  It's kind of an exciting concept, really.  It ought to be very educational, and great fun.

Also, the spoiler tags will mitigate the worst thing about reading AARs - the page jumping around while all the big screenshots slowly load.
