Title: Thanksgiving 2021 Discussion
Post by: Dio on November 19, 2021, 03:55:34 AM
Thanksgiving arrives next week. What plans, recipes, or traditions, if any, do you have for Thanksgiving?

I am a plain person on this front. I plan on visiting family for Thanksgiving Day. I don't have any specific plans beyond that at the moment.

There's a rift among the in-laws due to a criminal act, so it monkey wrenches the traditional family dinner.

Would have been grilled/smoked turkey breast with gravy, dressing, mashed potatoes, corn, canned cranberry sauce, home made cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and Asti wine. Some years there are also raw radishes and green onions, or Brussels sprouts with bacon. A dozen people or so, plus their dogs. Followed by card, domino or board games and loud TV or loud video games. Maybe it's to keep people from falling asleep?

This year some of the in-laws will join us for lunch. Except for the pie and corn, the meal will be ordered from the grocery store, and will have a beef tenderloin option for those headed for another turkey meal.
Should be a politics-free meal for a change, so there's that.

I'm hitting the easy button and ordered the meal fully prepped from the local grocer.

hEt works Thanksgiving night, the boys and I work black friday.

Yes, no good reason I should have to work black friday.  It's the first time ever it wasn't a paid holiday in the last 19 years doing this work.  I virtually guarantee I'll be the only one here, but any request to switch it or vacation were immediately denied.  And it's going to be this way next year too.  I'm NOT pleased about this in any way shape or form.

Consequently, we're already a good 90%ish done with xmas.

To diverge a bit. I've taken time to contemplate. I am really, really thankful for the Covid vaccines.
