Title: Hurricane Florance Targets North Carolina
Post by: E_T on September 11, 2018, 05:36:08 PM
Cat 3 at this posting and due to hit in about 3 days.  It is Forecast to weaken after landfall and then stay in the middle of the state and rain for days and have flooding (al la Texas).

Also, there are three other Tropical systems (at this time) in the works...

Nah.  Hundreds of miles inland in the mountains, we're unlikely to have worse than a long thunderstorm.

Well, keep us updated as to how things are going...  Maybe we can get you to do a 'live spot' during the storm, giving us blow by blow coverage...  ;D

Any idea how the Raleigh area is supposed to fare, specifically Cary?

I reckon if there's anything worth talking about, and I still can, I will.

Went upstairs for lunch right after that last post, and Momma is bothering to refresh the emergency water.  The worst danger we're in, if it's bad, is losing some utilities for a while.

---

Local weather is currently looking for it to make for Raleigh before it goes up into Virginia midway...  We'll know a lot more by Thursday, of course.

Well, here's hoping you get nothing more than a lot of rain.

Okay, here's hoping you get just the right amount of rain.

Geo, Mom just happened to say at supper today that if you got back to America sometime, she'd like to have you back.

Someday I will. :) Say hi to the family for me please.
(need to get on top of things financially again, condo's to tend to devour money)
(of course it doesn't help I already booked something in South America for 2020)

Well, bad enough apparently that my ex is packing up and leaving the state this morning.

I do hope you're high up in those mountains, BU.

I have family just outside of the Dudley, N.C. area and they are going to ride the storm out...

Not a wise move in my opinion, but it's a younger brother turned into a man, he listens to no one, especially me.

It's been drizzling here the past week or two but that's got nothing to do with no hurricane... ;)

I don't think it's a cry wolf thing. Coastal areas and and even eastern inland bits seem pretty hard hit. Death toll is 23 right now, I think? Glad it turned out to be nothing where you are, though.

A few people seemed interested in me stressing out...

I sat through Hurricane Hugo, which dropped a large tree on the house, so I know we're not invulnerable up this way - but oh ye of little faith.
