Just posting randomly from my newsletter, which I can't link to.

Of minor interest, the old program has merged with a couple others that are taking a more focused approach to the research.  "randomly selected" grids for monitoring to get a sample size.

The good:  There appears to be a very deliberate attempt to evenly distribute the grid across the country. 

The bad:  It appears to have a very high bias towards areas near universities and existing wildlife refuges (at least in Utah)  (though there are a very few that are rather remote)

I've never seen the north/south split in the eastern monarchs before, as shown on the map.  No rationale presented why they delineate those.
