Title: Secrets of the Human Brain
Post by: bvanevery on March 21, 2018, 06:37:06 PM
Scientists have established a link between brain damage and religious fundamentalism (https://www.rawstory.com/2018/03/scientists-established-link-brain-damage-religious-fundamentalism/)

Quote
The authors emphasize that cognitive flexibility and openness aren’t the only things that make brains vulnerable to religious fundamentalism. In fact, their analyses showed that these factors only accounted for a fifth of the variation in fundamentalism scores. Uncovering those additional causes, which could be anything from genetic predispositions to social influences, is a future research project that the researchers believe will occupy investigators for many decades to come, given how complex and widespread religious fundamentalism is and will likely continue to be for some time.

BTW with the new web page theme, it's not easy to tell that the 1st sentence I posted is a weblink to the article.

I was never able to find or fix that when I was working on themes - I did try.  Also making it a color would have been even better, but I edited in an underline.

I don't remember colors or automatic weblink underlining being a problem before?  What is different now?

If I knew that, I would have fixed it while I spent three months leaning in squinting to make out endless 8pt .css code...  It's just a flaw I couldn't track down in this otherwise very good Spring theme.  Goes back to normal at 10:30 tonight.

BUncle:

Add this to Ostara's CSS and see if that works.

Code: [Select]
.windowbg a:hover { color:#0086e6 }
You can also change .windowbg a:link to make it stand out differently, but you'll need to separate it from the base .windowbg clause because otherwise it'll affect normal text as well.

Oooh.  That would involve me being willing to enter the Hell that is a forum theme interface again, and find the right spot, and then burn several day fixing that I guessed wrong.  Cascading is right - half the work's just bailing water from mystery issues when you're in practice.  I've forgotten half of what I ever knew in the two years since, and frankly, one day a year is all this theme sees daylight for anyone.  Not worth it.

Mind, I'd have been grateful as heck for the tip at the time and flown all over it.

Ah, well if this is 1 day and not forever, no big deal.

...It's a favorite of mine for both looks and performance, and except for the link underline thing and the quote colors sucking a little -I did know how to fix that latter, but I guess it fell through the cracks, cycling through fixing up so many themes- I don't recall any other problems.  I actually see the quote legibility and those dark boxes being sorta ugly as a more important problem...

Interesting article.
I thought I was a religious fundamentalist. According to the definitions in the article, I can drop the fundamentalist part and be just religious.
I feel somewhat unburdened.
