Title: Help! Yang And Miriam Look Like Deirdre!

I was playing with the Faction Editor and somehow the Hive and Believer factions now use Gaian graphics. I can't seem to undo it. Help, please?

Never play with Facedit.  It's terrible, and does crap like that.  You're surely getting the default graphic displaying - the top of believe.txt should read like this:

#BELIEVE

-Open believe.txt in Notepad and change that all-caps line next-to-last back to #BELIEVE.  Likewise with #HIVE in the same place in hive.txt.


Let me know if that works/I guessed the problem, and stay away from the Great Satan Facedit....

Open your SMACX root directory>double-click on believe.txt.  Same for hive.txt.  (Windows doesn't want to show the .txt extension, but everything else named "believe" or "hive" except the faction .flc file shows and extention - you can see which one in the "Type" column.)

What I meant was that when I opened the files, they already read #BELIEVE and #HIVE respectively so that the original proposed solution wouldn't work.

The #[FACTIONNAME] tag does that. Leader, base graphics, diplomacy visuals, it all falls under it.

Have you checked if the picture files (believe.pcx, believe2.pcx, believe3.pcx) still look like Miriam and not like Deirdre?

I came up with a solution. The Gaians use the Angels graphics, the Believers the Consciousness graphics and the Hive the Drones graphics. I have distinct graphics for each faction now even if I would prefer the original graphics.

Have you started a multiplayer game? That could be a reason the factions show other graphics.

No, it's a singleton game. I had messed with the faction editor and caused all the trouble that way. I had to change the Gaian graphics because their flags went transparent. I've subsequently tweaked the University and the Peacekeepers and now they use the Pirate and Cult graphics respectively.

I found this site which had a rating system for each of the factions. I tweaked the Believers, Hive, Peacekeepers and University so that all factions had the same rating.

+1 GROWTH {Quiverfull Ministry} and +1 PROBE (for a total of +2 PROBE) for the Believers.

+1 PROBE {Surveillance State} for the Hive.

Extra talent per three bases for the Peacekeepers.

+1 PROBE (for a total of -1 PROBE) for the University.
