Title: some newbie questions about 3.5c patch
Post by: czar on December 11, 2016, 06:35:54 PM
Hi!
I discovered the Yitzi patch, where can I read the list of improvements in compare to standard smax?
I've to overwrite just my terranx.exe? It's ok if I'm already playing pbem a game or the other player must install the patch too?

Thanks to Yitzi for the patch  :)

A list of bugs fixed can generally be found in the attached readme.

The 3.5 patch must be downloaded before the 3.5c patch, because it contains necessary text files.

See section II. Patch information in the 3.5 PatchReadme.txt for features and bug fixes. If this is your first time using Yitzi's patch, it is important to note this sentence: "Full information regarding my patch can be found at http://alphacentauri2.info/wiki/Yitzi%27s_patch (http://alphacentauri2.info/wiki/Yitzi%27s_patch)"

Thanks!
Just one question, can I use the patch if I'm already playing a pbem game? Must we install both the patch?

I think so, yes, because of the changes in the terranx.exe.

That would be a question for Yitzi, though, to be sure.

Having only one person in a PBEM game install the patch will not make it unplayable, but will cause some bugs in ecodamage calculations.  This applies to a lesser extent if you both install the patch and use it for a game that was started without it, if that game has already had at least one of: (a) planet busters used, or (b) a major atrocity happened (without PBs, that means a lot of minor atrocities; it's the point where everybody declares war and it starts affecting ecodamage), or (c) a centauri preserve, tree farm, hybrid forest, or temple of planet was built after the first fungal pop of the game.

Not sure if it's ok to post here ... but i gave up on searching.

Eco damage: Does it still require you to twice re-pop fungus by eco damage to rise mineral counter up?

I know it originates from Yitzi's mod, and i only found one sentence on that subject:
"Tree Farms, Hybrid Forests, Centauri Preserves, and Temples of Planet no longer count as fungal pops for purposes unrelated to calculating ecological damage chance, such as determining when ecological damage would begin to produce mind worms and global warming. "

cheers

I'm not sure what he means by "twice re-pop fungus".  Fungal pops will raise free minerals like they used to (though this can now be modded), but I don't remember anything about needing to do anything twice.
