Title: Ridiculously high SMACX scores
Post by: BFG on July 11, 2016, 07:00:18 PM
I know the score isn't particularly important, but...has anyone ever tried running up the score in a game just to see how high they can make it go, and what happens to the game?

I'm currently in year 2565 of a difficulty-3 game, playing as Santiago, and my score is around 8700 (435%).  I've got things set up so that I should get a Transcend victory at 2600.  So I may be able to hit 12000 before it's over.  Most of my 105 bases have built every single facility and every single unit that could possibly be useful, all at max technology, to the point the AI doesn't even talk to me anymore for fear I'll find an excuse to attack them :D.  My faction has actually crashed the "dominance" graph, such that I show as the least dominant of the 5 remaining factions (I suspect I went over the max score the variable can hold).  And for a while I was also showing as the least dominant military because I had 256 of my main unit, a 30-12-1-4 AAA Trance Sentinel.  Oh, and I also own all Secret Projects.  Who knows where I'll be in another 35 turns.

Anyway, it's been an interesting exercise to see how high the score can go, and also to see the limits of SMACX's in-game variables...I can clearly see where I've hit several limits, including things like Autoimprove Base Formers no longer responding.

The drawback: for a while, a single turn was taking over 30 minutes!  I've got it nailed down to under 5 minutes per turn now, however.

Five minutes?  Once I've formered the entire map and maxed out all my bases in pop and facilities and it's future techs every turn, there's nothing to do but hit end turn most turns while I'm running out the clock.  I think I've gotten a high of around 2000% before on transcend on a large map, but don't hold me to that until I get around to checking...

Yeah, future tech is the way to go for huge scores.  I've done it with  ;deidre; using fungus everywhere, though it was pointed out to me that (unmodded) condensers actually give a bit more than that (using satellites and Transcendi, of course).

And of course iron man and high native life are good to.
