Title: Two problems with Goto's Planetary Scan map
Post by: hilton on May 28, 2016, 06:57:14 pm
Again, SMAX (GOG) with Yitzi 3.4 and PRACX 1.08. Don't know if this is a SMAX problem or a mod.

The first issue is that, at least at my current resolution (1360x768) the planetary scan map covers part of the first city name on the list. Not a big thing, but surely an easy fix just by fixing the map to the top of the screen?

Second, the map and the city markers often don't agree, at least on the Huge maps I usually play on. In the screenshot below, the "planetary scan" is centered nearly half a world away from where the unit actually is (the actual location is near the bottom left of what is visible in the planetary scan), but the actual city markers are in the right location, centered around the unit.

(I'd also like to gripe about Goto (and Automate) pathfinding in the late game. Once there is a sprawling empire connected by mag tubes, it fails spectacularly if the route is not directly obvious, sending scores of units to move square by square across undeveloped terrain on a path that takes them to a dead-end coast rather than a quick mag tube trip around the world.)

Additional problem with Goto list [Yitzi?], scroll wheel zooms map instead of scrolling list. Would be nice to have for my megalith empire (60 cities and counting).
