Title: What should Uno get for Christmas?
Post by: Unorthodox on December 28, 2015, 01:27:06 PM
No one seems to take me seriously when I say I want bones for Christmas.  So, aside from the new work clothes, I come away with CASH every year.

So, first order of business was to secure me enough basics for the year, and day after Christmas, I cleaned out every store in northern Utah of a particular light I use for building monsters.  I'll never understand the logic of what is a generic light socket being labeled as Christmas décor, but I'll sure take the 70% off each year.  (same with extension cords btw, buy them after Christmas in the Christmas aisle)

So, we're basically set for the year.  The rest of the construction should be able to be managed through my normal budget.

Disarticulated Human Skeleton:  (medical skeleton) The ability to cast individual bones would be interesting and beneficial.  However, aside from sentimental value, Fred is starting to fall apart, and could be disarticulated.  I've also proven through Bob and Trevor I'm quite capable of making adequate facsimiles.

Disarticulated Animal Skeletons:  Stumbled on while searching for the best price above.  I could get a handful of different animals for the same price as a human skeleton.  Bonus: real bones.  This introduces various bone supplies for me to model.  No one said the Unobies I'm making need to be human...

The Practical:  Supplies are still low after the big year out of work.  There's the burlap/netting purchase looming at some point, plaster wrap, latex, could stock up.

Games:  Xcom 2 is coming up, Fallout 4 is here, probably a few others I've missed...

Tools:  The Dremel died, could use better soldering iron,  get that air brush working...

Skulltronix:  Long time followers know this is something of a "retirement plan" for the Halloween hobby.  A robotic Skeleton I could program to say or sing whatever I want.  (In fact, there's already a program for them out there I wrote the script for...can't find the video though, this'll have to do.)

The Unorthodox sounds like a forensic anthropologist in training because he loves skeletons . . .

I was going to say bones, since that's the future theme of Halloween, and that's what you asked for. A few animal skeletons might inspire some interesting Chimeras.

Games are great for people with spare time. I figure with the Halloween theme transition, and teenagers developing interests of their own, perhaps you'll need to put more time than usual into the Unorthodox Halloween this year.

But reading your list, I'm thinking about tools. Good tools= time savings. As my grandfather used to say, "A coat of paint can cover up a multitude of sins". If you need an airbrush repair/upgrade, maybe that's the thing. It could save you time and enhance the appearance of the finished project.
