Title: Hardware question: Switching monitor settings often in order to play SMAX
Post by: gwillybj on August 23, 2015, 01:19:09 PM
My eyes aren't as good as they never were. Because of this, I have to switch my monitor's settings when I play SMAX to 1024x768 @ 60Hz. Then when I'm doing other things I switch them to 1280x1024 @ 72Hz. Is this doing the monitor any harm? I don't mind doing it - it takes only a few seconds, but I don't want to futz the monitor.

I think it depends on what monitor you are using. Lower resolution runs my graphics card cooler, this is what I have noticed.

There is possibility to increase font size, in ini file. But I remember, that it does not work on all text.
I also usually zoom the game from its standard zoom. And that can be done also before application of PRACX patch.
Playing recently on 21.5 inch monitor, with full HD, so my pixel size (is it called pitch?) is like 0.247 mm.
I find it really ok. Was playing with pixel 0.215 as was ok too, but 0.19 was too small.
I got used to graphics re-scaled to whats needed for when I hit "z" few times.
